The ownership and telemetry shenanigans were unfortunate but this does look good. It's also good that this remains an opensource project with potentially viable funding attached.

I must admit I still run Audacity 2.x or whatever and have no problems with it. But there are a lot of QoL improvements here that I'm excited about.

Kinda sad to see they did end up changing the logo, it really looks awful...

That aside I am extremely excited for the new features. The telemetry controversy was overblown(it was still bad dont get me wrong) but I do fear for the future of this being corporate owned

Didn't Audacit fall from grace, because of privacy-issues? I mean, this was one of the reasons for the Tenacity fork.

From what I've read they reversed course on the telemetry issues and have stayed true to that, so that's nice. This overhaul might be worth a look after several years of turbulence.

Opt-in, at least. You got it if you want it (with an extra install and several gigs of storage use), and it takes up no extra space if you, like me, prefer not to use it.

They use it for development now.

excactly muse is trying to get back good will by piling unreasonable amout of resource on a simple opensource audio editor before enshiification begins

They should rename the project to Audashitty.

I mean as long as the license stays open it can just be forked again, can it not? Not super knowledgeable about these things

Embrace Extend Excliensh
Embrace by buying audacity
Extend by adding so much feature that it is better then forks before the merger in everyway
Excliensh by enshiification, add ai, ads, clouds, buyable features etc

Why doesn't it scroll down the webpage, when I scroll? The webpage is terrible, especially scrolling with mouse. Feels like I'm on Instagram. Here is a much better website: https://tenacityaudio.org/
