There are protected wild horses on federal land.

It's illegal to hunt them or kill them for meat.

But the Trump administration has found a loophole: if they capture them and sell them to a foreign entity alive, that foreign entity can legally butcher them.

It's darkly funny because those horses are a invasive species that only have federal protections because conservatives like to pretend to be cowboys.

Stay clear of beef unless you're really confident in its origin at least for a little while.

Meanwhile the administration is waiving tariffs to import lean meat trimmings without specifying the source countries. The theory is those two things are directly linked.
