#69: Star Trek: The Original Series, season 3, episode 16 "The Mark of Gideon"

"We must acknowledge once and for all that the purpose of diplomacy is to prolong a crisis." - Commander Spock

The Federation has finally been allowed to send a representative to Gideon, a very secluded planet that wishes to become a member world. They have requested Captain Kirk, specifically, so the Enterprise has been dispatched. But when Commander Scott beams Kirk to the designated coordinates, he never arrives in the council chambers. Commander Spock immediate begins investigating the Captain's disappearance while the Gideon Council play bureaucratic games with him. Meanwhile, from Kirk's perspective, he was never left the transporter pad. Except now he's the only person aboard the ship. The transporter room, the engine room, the bridge, are completely empty, until he finds a young woman wandering the corridors.
