That's Doug Ford (Toronto Trump) and he's only getting pissy now because those particular tarrifs make justifying his "car dependence is fine actually" stance more difficult

"Canadian politician" removes a lot of authority from them. They are the premier of Ontario.

This is fake news in the sense that phrasing causes you to perceive the situation differently from what factually happened. A politician might also be some insignificant dimwhit from a single seat holding party.
