Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

You can also hate a place and not leave it because you're too poor/disconnected to leave AmeriKKKa

Tell it to the migrants who walked to the US from south America with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

And why, pray tell, do you think these people are walking to AmeriKKKa? Which local country's meddling in their home country's foreign affairs destabilized their homes and forced them to leave for the nearest (relatively) stable rich nation? I'll give you a hint: AmeriKKKa AmeriKKKa AmeriKKKa AmeriKKKa AmeriKKKa

They were told it was the land of freedom and you can become anything you want.

And how many of them actually survived until the end of their journey?

POV: You're my bed on a work day.

You can leave pretty much any place no matter your feelings on it.

Like the shower?

Same goes for fandoms/communities: You can still like a community despite not interacting with it.

Some time ago, I saw a YT video where some guy said that he loves Italy, but Italy doesn't love him back. For a long time, he tried to keep is YT business in Italy, but the system just made it impossible, so he had to move. A tragic story.

You can also love a person and still leave them

[–] CombatWombat@feddit.online 1 points 1 week ago

Yes because the Spanish government kept saying I was an "illegal immigrant" and I had "overstayed my visa."

Can confirm, I once heard a song about how there must be 50 ways to leave your lover

[–] I_Fart_Glitter@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I think I heard that from OP, actually.
