"AI" doesn't make us more efficient. Generative LLMs make slop that requires a lot of attention and revision.
Writing code was never the bottleneck.
Big brain tech dude got yet another clueless take over at HackerNews etc? Here's the place to vent. Orange site, VC foolishness, all welcome.
This is not debate club. Unless it’s amusing debate.
For actually-good tech, you want our NotAwfulTech community

Nonsense, next you are going to claim the point of English, Creative Writing and Non-Fiction Writing degrees aren't to increase the raw amount of words being written in the world as if these degrees existed to do anything other than focus on drilling student's typing and writing speed while only grading their output on quantity and other superficial bulk metrics!!?
You are SO naive!
Do you even know how the whole world works? No? Well you should have studied computers and not wasted your time!
what the hell is facebook "shipping" that's so important anyway? more fake trump-as-jesus photos for louisiana snake-fondlers?
I would also like to note the evidence about employee efficiency being decreased from them being given vacations is simply not there, in the longterm vacations improve the performance of employees, thus taking them away and overworking employees is done out of spiritual and ideological belief not out of any actual pursuit of efficiency.
This ideology is deranged and unsupported by the science, even if you don't care about the dumpster ethics of it, which you also should too.
It’s like homelessness or crime- the best thing to do is to give people homes and actually rehabilitate them, respectively, but we don’t do those because they’re not punitive enough.
Sure sounds like a way to sabotage the possibility of hiring anyone with any ambition in the future.

add this ☝️ to this 👇 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvgx4yd1gl2o and you know once again the ruling class is taking us for fools !!
People still employed at google know what they are in for. Same for Tesla and a few others. Normal businesses know that burning through human capital is expensive.
The Facebook CTO is one of those fake lt Colonels the DoD commissioned a while back.
This guy was CTO while Facebook/Meta was burning all that money on the Metaverse. Now they are, as Mr Gerard put it, pivoting to AI, and burning millions there. Those Meta stock options must be really good to work for someone as dumb as this guy.
Plus: He went to Harvard. I guess those schools will take anybody.
The ironic thing is longterm there is a steady market for VR if game developers are given time and agency to build it, it is way more revolutionary than AI in my opinion because it works.
If Meta had spent 1/10th of the money over 10 years on VR they would have walked out of this okay in the medium term but nope gotta chase the rainbow.
All they had to do was commit and they couldn't, not with all the money in the world.
