He tried to woo the tech sector to allow them to let Meta (then Facebook) products back in. He learnt some basic Mandarin and gave 'speeches' at major unis, he asked his staff to all read the Governance of China, and he asked Xi Jinping to give his daughter a Chinese name. China basically said nah we're good, and Meta is still blocked
