No bigotry, hardline stance. Try not to get too heated when entering into a discussion or debate.
We are here to talk and discuss about one of our passions, not fight or be exposed to hate. Posts or responses that are hateful will be deleted to keep the atmosphere good. If repeatedly violated, not only will the comment be deleted but a ban will be handed out as well. We judge each case individually.
3. No excessive self-promotion
Try to keep it to 10% self-promotion / 90% other stuff in your post history.
This is to prevent people from posting for the sole purpose of promoting their own website or social media account.
4. Stay on-topic; no memes, funny videos, giveaways, reposts, or low-effort posts
This community is mostly for discussion and news. Remember to search for the thing you're submitting before posting to see if it's already been posted.
We want to keep the quality of posts high. Therefore, memes, funny videos, low-effort posts and reposts are not allowed. We prohibit giveaways because we cannot be sure that the person holding the giveaway will actually do what they promise.
5. Mark Spoilers and NSFW
Make sure to mark your stuff or it may be removed.
No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.
6. No linking to piracy
Don't share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine.
We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

Antiyoy isn't pretty, but it's a great turn based strategy game. Free I think.
To Arms is an odd sort deckbuilder. Free.
Solitairica is like solitaire/fantasy strategy
Rebuild is an older zombie city survival game
Survive is an outdoor survival game. It isn't turn based, but it's not live action either. It's free I think.
Out There isnt strategy in the traditional sense, but you do make decisions and progress further with a little luck and good decisions.
Unciv! Ever heard of Civ, aka Sid Meier's Civilization? Wanna play it on your phone without shelling out $20 for one of the worst-reviewed mobile ports of all time? Unciv is an open source implementation of a tile-based, turn-based strategy game. Oh, and there's built-in mod support as well. Not huge on mobile gaming, so it's literally the only one I've been playing for months.
These answers point to a useful pattern: good mobile strategy doesn’t have to be simple, but it does need to tolerate interruption. Unciv removes real-time pressure, Into the Breach preserves a run cleanly, Landrule compresses a full match, and Arknights keeps stages short. So the better test may be: how quickly can you return to one meaningful decision after unlocking your phone? That seems more useful than judging by genre alone.
I'm hoping you get some solid suggestions. I have such a hard time navigating mobile app stores to find anything that I may want to play
Not really a mobile gamer and i either solve riddles on websites or puzzles like sudoku. And I only use open source. I think mindustry and unciv are too complex for a phone game, I like feudal tactics, but it gets stale after some time
I've only played it on PC and Switch, but Into the Breach is one of my favorite strategy games and the interface is excellent on touch. The randomized campaigns of short turn-based maps is excellent for short play sessions, and has a ton of replayability with a lot of unlockable squads.
Sadly AFAIK it's only available in mobile for Netflix subscribers. But if you are one it's free.
Into the Breach is one of my favourite games ever! Playing on the computer is good, but on the phone is way better because it allows stopping at any time and the game will just resume from where you were next time you open it. No partial save state at the beginning of a turn, no restarting a battle because it forgot to save. Great design.
I got a mobile copy of Into the Breach from apkaward. I would buy it if was possible, but until I can I'll use a pirated copy.
I feel like Mewgenics is very similar. Tactical gameplay on a grid, and the game gets a bit upset if you try to save scum. Could really use a mobile port.
Not tower defense, but I've been a long time fan of a super simple game caked Landrule. It's literally just Risk, but it's super simplified graphics means it can run on a potato, and the visual information is super easy to digest. It has a ton of speed options so when your comfortable with it, you can crank it up and play an entire game against 5 computer opponents or more in 5 minutes. And, best of all, a tooooon of maps so you can mix it up and keep it fresh.
