"Return to duty" can mean anything from peeling potatoes in the canteen to light paperwork.

The Los Angeles D line is about to get a new western terminus at the VA hospital. The day it opens I'm gonna go there (on the D train) and make fun of the young guys until one tries to punch me with an arm he doesn't have anymore.
I have 0 sympathy for the US Armed Forces, and a small part of me can't help but feel that people that volunteer for the imperial war machine deserve what they get. But please remember that these are human beings, and all humans deserve dignity. When you forget that, you aren't really better than the worst of them.
The US political and economic system is also designed to entrap people in the military.
Cant afford a education. Military will pay for it.
Can't afford a place to live. Military will provide.
Unable to escape violence and gangs, military.
They also provide health care to vets, and vets are given discounts everywhere.
Allegedly they provide healthcare to vets. Ask any vet their opinion on VA hospitals, though.

The irgc is also pretty bad. I wouldn't say they're better than the Americans, but the irgc isn't blowing up schools and fighting on side with zios.
The Americans knew what they were signing up for; contracts aren't that long.
The usa tried to create a failed state, a failed state kill millions and they already killed millions from vietnam to afghanistan to iraq, to syria, to libya so yeah the usa is a lot worse than the irgc.
I'm not going to pretend any of the militaries here are the good guys, I'm just here to mock the crippled bitches from one who come back missing limbs and make them cry or crave a 9mm sandwich.
Everything is in context. The context we are talking about is the war of aggression on iran so in that context the Iranian army is the good side and the usa army the bad side. It similar to how the allies was the good guy in the world war 2 and the axis the bad guys despite the allies having colonies and killing resistance in the colonized countries

Many of them are brainwashed by parents and are ignorant of world affairs. The recruiters get to them when they are 17. Many regret it later, and that's why the suicide rates in the military are high. Teenagers make incredibly poor decisions. I get what you're saying, but have some compassion. The enemy are the folks who own media and profit from it, not the ignorant masses.
17? Many schools have recruiters walking the halls long before that. Plenty of these kids were getting talked up in the hallway at 15 and had recruiters calling their cellphones unprovoked or stalking them to their homes using personal information they got from the schools.
Also, Transformers and COD games are hitting eyeballs as soon as kids are old enough to watch TV unsupervised. Beer commercials, certain coffee establishments, etc etc. The wrong unsupervised media environment readily delivers poor kids to the armed forces as an aspirational goal.
tends to be the most accessible way out of that poor small-town hellscape so common across america too.
part of me wonders if one of the main reasons we dont have universal healthcare/education is it would effectively crater DoD's ability to recruit anyone. already struggle to hit their quota as is...

It's hard to empathise, but it's the regime we hate, not the pawns. I hope they get some fuel cards to take the sting out of being maimed for whatever this mess is. Many US service people are in the forces simply to try get a leg up in their society. It's the bait the government dangles in front of the young and poor.
