Wow who could have seen this coming

(Yes praxis is important taking action is important but it should not and in fact real principled mass movements do not do so at the expense of theory)

Reading das kapital aloud with the most seductive voice possible.

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago

It sure talks a lot about fetishes for the book to be read without a hand down the pants.

[–] ksynwa@lemmygrad.ml 19 points 1 day ago

Delivered in his second term so hard that people elected an infamous con-man as the President right after

[–] GeckoChamber@hexbear.net 24 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What if instead of a book club where we jerk each other off, we had a voting club where we don't even jerk each other off?

[–] kittenzrulz123@hexbear.net 13 points 1 day ago

Average lib group

[–] shath@hexbear.net 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

let's do the jerk off thing

[–] Dort_Owl@hexbear.net 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Appealing to the masses under a capitalist system where people are groomed from birth to be pro-capitalist just means appealing to capitalism, which kind of defeats the point and is how you end up as just another right-wing party.

Our job isn't to appeal to their brainwashing, it's to dunk them in cold water and wake them the fuck up.

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Capital does not have the power to simply dictate what they believe. Yes, it was able to miseducate them in some ways, but most people still in large part want good and beneficial things and it's their understanding of the world that is warped. There are lots of ways to appeal to some of the existing values of most of the masses without falling into miserable tailism like modern sewer socialists try to tell you is necessary.

Literally, the most difficult thing for most people to understand is the trans issue, and you can still make significant progress on that if you show that you hold most of the rest of their values. Much of the time, it only takes one or two conversations. Not enough for them to speak up against the bigotry, but enough for them to try to uncomfortably divert the conversation whenever it comes up.

You especially don't have to tail fucking Obama.

I'd like to hear him explain what he thinks Obama delivered on. the ACA? oooooooh an insurance industry giveaway [jerkoff motion]

[–] RedWizard@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

And you can thank Mitt Romney for the ACA. The bill was nearly yhr same bill MA passed a few years prior.

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Major reason they couldn't do a replacement for it is because it's already their own plan

[–] TreadOnMe@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That one was always a fun one to explain to bird-brain "the last shiny thing the radio told me about is all I want to talk about" liberals and conservatives.

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 1 day ago

Also a great way to see how much someone actually cares about issues, or knowledgeable they are.

Or honestly how old they are based on the tax penalty parts.

what if the people who cared enough to read theory lead the movement instead of mouth breathing buffoons who think hitting the midpoint between actually good ideas and the inconsistently imagined opinions of "the masses" is better than just... xi-button

[–] kristina@hexbear.net 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)
