Imagine being so creatively bankrupt you can’t even draw your own soyjack meme.

Nah, it checks out. 32 stars on the flag points to a 9 month period between 1858 and 1859, there were a ton of capotain-wearing Puritans around then. That definitely isn’t a fashion trend as removed from 1858 as we are from 1858!

The first one was Englishmen as well ..

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 13 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

Third one is basically their fault too.

[–] Lodespawn@aussie.zone 2 points 4 weeks ago

Yeah I thought about pointing that out, there were a few other players in it but .. yeah, hopefully the English get their shit together one day ..

Technically Hitler's fault, but go off king.

No, not really. A) Zionism predates the Nazi party by quite a bit, and B) it's pretty well documented that a large amount of European countries supported the establishment of Israel so that they could get rid of their Jewish populations, including England who controlled Palestine. The Nazis did not have a monopoly on antisemitism in Europe, I promise you that.

Not to mention that Sykes Picot was the English and French carving up the MENA area with no regard as to who lived there, post WWI.

Sure, but his American descendants kept the tradition and the excuse alive for centuries after that snazzy hat went out of style.

[–] Lodespawn@aussie.zone 2 points 4 weeks ago

Well that's true, but there are a few other snazzy hats they could have used that would have aligned better with that flag or a flag similar to it .. I find it odd that religious nutjobs always need a ridiculous hat

[–] Talentlesssculptor@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

And French, Spanish and Portuguese...

They were mostly English when they had those hats

[–] wewbull@feddit.uk 2 points 3 weeks ago

The pilgrim fathers fled to the "new world" to escape persecution. They might have been English, but the English didn't want them.
