This site automatically refreshes to kick me out of Firefox reader mode. Guess I will read about this somewhere else

One of those sites where you must manually uncheck every “legitimate interest” toggle. No thanks.

If Poland decides to roll up on Russia with their shiny new tanks (properly supported by crunchies and assorted air assets) without pushing the Article 5 button, gonna have to see if they've got a foreign legion. I don't know Polish unless we're talking about making boots shiny so that could be a challenge but not an insurmountable one.

they're not going to do anything. they'll complain, rattle some swords, and then go back to regular business and let Ukraine continue the fight on their own.

Not trying to be a smartass but why not just volunteer for Ukraine?

I also don't know Ukrainian. Figured as soon as I hop on a plane, we'd get breaking news that Russia had drunkenly stumbled over the wrong border and the whole team would get together to send them home but it's taken longer than expected and still not guaranteed to happen at all. I worry that I'd be more of a liability than an asset with things as they've been so far but I'm pretty good at being a small cog in a big (NATO-sized) machine.

There's stuff I'm leaving out that makes me more useful here than other places for now too. Not like some kind of secret agent AFSOC Green Beret SEAL Raider thing but I still know some boring deep nerd shit that's almost completely irrelevant elsewhere. No sense forcing some kid to learn it when they can brush the dust off guys like me and give us something to be miserable about. Also some physical stuff (not too old yet but significantly older than I used to be) that makes me a less-than-ideal recruit. If Poland gets involved, I see it as a step toward a full NATO vs CRINK showdown so might as well scrape myself out of the bottom of the barrel before the draft does it for me.

Didn't take it as smartassing, it's a good question and one that I've been asking myself for years.

There is an English speaking foreign legion in Ukraine if you're interested.

Do you have military experience?

Is this the retaliation for Ukraine attacking the Iranian ship?

Poland will not shoot it down. Turkey did that once and instead of defending Turkey NATO scolded them.
