if you actually read the manga you'd know it can be goofy as hell and look rather similar in tone to the right one. nobody is taking away the movie from you. you can still enjoy it. i don't even know if the new anime is good on its own but this right panel is certainly not a mark against it.

This contrast elimimates all arguments about ScarJo Major since the movie Major is technically jist as inaccurate.

Lmao no that’s the Major from The Ghost in the Shell which is currently airing. It’s supposed to be a more faithful manga adaptation which means it will be wildly different from what anime only viewers would be used to.
Not only "supposed", it's very close to the manga, quite incredibly so.
I always loved the manga, but seeing such a faithful adaption is almost unreal.
Like it's incredibly faithful. I still can't believe we got the boat scene from Junk Jungle.
Ish, it was noticeably toned down.
Not that I can blame them, the manga scene was basically a few seconds of hardcore.
Man, I'm just happy the scene was included to show that Major is a total lesbo and to see Batou punch his own face in.
Also, yes, it was toned down yet still somehow equally as erotic. The only difference between it and hentai would have been seeing poon.

What movie is on the left?
Both are from the new "The Ghost in the shell" anime which is airing right now. It's a new series which is much more faithful to the manga.
The left from the 90's movie. Major is drawn way different (more closely resembles the original manga art style now) in the new show.
Unless there is a new episode that I haven't seen yet with a wild change in art direction.
