Oh boy $0.50 per person for a decade of price fixing! That seems reasonable.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 11 points 1 month ago

Cost of doing business.

[–] BreadOven@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Agreed, but I got like $50 for the bread one. Obviously doesn't compensate for the actual overpaying, but I guess better than nothing? But also what will we find out next that had a similar thing? Fuck corrupt mega-companies. Where's the guillotine?

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 month ago

Yeah, the payout is probably gonna be pretty small.

Yeah. I was talking to a relative who got a FB settlement for a whopping $2.47. They still use it, too. πŸ™„

[–] BCsven@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago

They are hoping for their next $2.50

Doing illegal shit and paying fines for it is just the cost of doing "business" for these behemoths.

It should be civil forfeiture like when a drug boss gets busted and they take everything that was possibly funded by the drug money.

The CEO and Legal Dept would definetly make sure nothing shady was going on after that rule.

This needs to be settled in beef

Kingdom of Loathing has entered the chat.

Whats that, like 2 days worth of their profits? Absolute corporate/judicial corruption.

[–] ValueSubtracted@startrek.website -1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Well, it's a settlement - the judiciary has nothing to do with it.
