Oh my, a law suit? Isn't that a little aggressive? How about a strongly worded letter? /s

What would a lawsuit even do? Would it jail him? Probably not. Are they going to fine him? Even if they did that it would be negligible.

He already did. Iran and the US have traded attacks for 2 days already.

Technically legal so long as the scope is limited, we've been bombing the middle east daily for the better part of half a century.

I think this is ultimately demonstrating that the War Powers Act is toothless. What's SCOTUS ultimately going to do? Even if they rule the war is illegal (quite a hope), they're not going to order troops who are actively under fire to stand down. They're not going to order actively deployed US troops to retreat from the combat zone, leaving troops in a situation where they have contradicting orders during an active shooting war.

At best, they would issue a ruling saying the war is illegal and ordering the president to end the war as quickly as possible. At which point, Trump would respond saying, "that's exactly what I was already doing." And ultimately nothing would change.

Mmm nope. Sc has it's own contempt system and the solution would be personal fines against Trump himself ideally large enough to kill the like 3 billion he's made in office. Ie. Criminal contempt for the office and civil contempt for the president which would bypass the sitting president issue since it's civil not criminal.
