I was on the fence until I saw this outburst. Now I’m pretty sure you’re a shitty tenant who’s about to get evicted. You and the landlord both are probably imperfect, and I’m not really gonna bother with too many details since I think you posted more for validation than for advice, but I think your landlord has a slam dunk case if he finds your account here with posts and comments. It could be too late, but your best bet is to delete your account, lawyer up, and stfu online about this before it builds their case against you. The judge doesn’t give a shit about you, he cares about the property owner’s property and possibly whether you’re a disruption to other tenants.

That’s not what [another commenter] said at all. I had some sympathy for you up to this point. You’re just a self centered asshole that doesn’t care about other people. Your landlord sounds like an asshole too, but now I’m kind of on their side. I wouldn’t want to deal with your bullshit either.

I hate these people, it's so disgusting. They try to shame you and guilt you over irritating their personal sensibilities and simultaneously change their opinion on how the state should handle this because irritating their sensibilities apparently warrants being extrajudicialy left to fucking die. Such an abuser mentality and they want to use the state to enact it.

It's understandable, because they were calling a top-level comment "OP," which is not what that term means, in the process of defending the honor of that "OP" against the actual OP. That's why I replaced "OP" with "[another commenter]," to make it more legible.

I could never allow my cats to go outside because of the many and terrible dangers but also they have a big area to run around in so i get it, I'm glad yours don't run away and have been safe so far
It's horrible here. There's an enclosed patio area but both of the gates were broken when I moved in. One time I watched one of my cats run into the window (thank god I keep it open) with a coyote chasing them all the way up to the wall.
I've since done some patchwork repairs to one of the fences that makes it easy to open and close (with fucking drama attached to it ugh) but the other is big and metal and heavy and its hinges are in like stucco so all I can do is prop it up when it's time to lock down after dark.
And for a few weeks it was okay. I would have to keep an eye out my window for shitheads who just blow the gate open and don't close it behind them, but it's not like I ever asked for anyone to go out of their way... but then...
The landlord and one of my roommates (the one I specifically fixed the other fence to make it easy for them to move) conspired outside my window to throw the gates into fucking dumpsters just to fuck me and my cats over "your cats are not our job" (??????). So even without this shit happening right now I'm looking for a fast exit.
I just like how the outdoor cat struggle session potential extends far beyond the Bear.

The notice to fix or vacate gives me three days that begin after it was posted, minus judicial holidays (like today being taken for the 4th) and the weekend. So Monday - Wednesday.

I will provoke my landlord into taking me to court on this complaint by talking back to her as if I am not impressed with her authority. She is a power tripper and keeping my window open during those non-counted days will set her on that path in stone. Being disrespected will give her tunnel vision

I have obtained a security camera I have pointed at my window. I will record all violations to my peaceful enjoyment from her closing my window without my consent, BUT CRITICALLY FOR THIS PLAN, I will record my window being closed for those three days.

I will present this evidence in court as a backstop, but I will also seek a judgement that I am not required to keep my window closed because it's not on my goddamned rental agreement in the first place

Once that's settled, I will retaliate with a laundry list of tenant rights violations she has committed and outright federal crimes, like stealing goddamned mail
And I'll expect a 30 day notice to vacate once she loses as her final parting shot.
