We're calling it now a silver spoon? (trumps dick)

like the conservatives on WELFARE. or ms leavitt marries someone more twice her senior and supporting her. and then theres womans dating in red states, they were shocked that so many of them are living at home still with thier parents.

[–] rangber@lemmy.zip 2 points 5 hours ago

Something about stepping on your own group to get ahead, to be one of the boys, feels disgusting.

I'm in my forties making nearly 200k and shit is too expensive

[–] Art3mis@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 hours ago

Ive never in my life made more than 50k/yr and i have a good union job. I would probably literally kill for 200k/yr

[–] crunchy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 23 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

I have a "real job" making almost $100k/year and things are still expensive. Should I also be sent to Cuba or Iran for stating the obvious?

[–] YoureHotCupCake@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago

Well have you considered getting a real job where you put on make up and then sit in a room full of cameras while you just lie for an hour or two a day to a camera? Now that's a real American job.

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 13 points 11 hours ago

"yes", fascists, unironically, probably.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 11 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Define 'real job', Jesse. Does that include sitting on you arse in front of a camera spewing lies to idiots?

[–] FavouriteShapes@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

Right? I would consider reporting, i.e putting a bit of yourself and putting your real opinions/demeanour into the role, to be a real job - but what these people do is just act as mouthpieces for the regime. Everything from their appearance too, to what they say, to how they say it (above tweet is a great example) is suppose to re-inforce the beliefs of our regime. Regime is the right word, btw - it simply means organised power.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah. Watters isn't a reporter. He's a glove puppet, and an unconvincing one at that. Same goes for Leavitt.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

hes a replacement for tucker carlson. his usual shtick was acting as a pundit against "degenerate libs" segment.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 1 points 2 hours ago

He's an even dumber Tucker Carlson, if that's even possible. So, a perfect Fox pundit.

[–] cockmushroom@reddthat.com 5 points 9 hours ago

Bro reads lies from a teleprompter and calls it a real job. Is it comodity fetishism yet when you equate income with reality?

Said the same week as RFK once again floats the idea of institutionalizing the disabled.

These are not off-the-cuff comments. Somewhere behind the veneer of stupidity, more and more members of the current government are pushing the need to imprison or conscript larger and larger swathes of the US population.

Legal slavery

They can’t afford food because they were born with silver spoons in their mouths. K.

[–] IchNichtenLichten@lemmy.wtf 5 points 11 hours ago

It doesn't have to make sense, it just has to make right wing boomers tut with disapproval as their biases are confirmed.

[–] bjorney@lemmy.ca 11 points 13 hours ago

Yeah Gen Z just needs to pull themselves up by the bootstraps and find a 65 year old billionaire to marry

[–] thisbenzingring@lemmy.today 19 points 14 hours ago (3 children)

like there is jobs everywhere and everyone is hiring....

but basically these conservatives are just assholes

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 2 hours ago

as if those jobs are truley hiring or just posting the listing there, or the fact the jobs are designed to take advantage of people.

[–] schipelblorp@sh.itjust.works 15 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (2 children)

like there is jobs everywhere and everyone is hiring…

Absolutely. And you can pay for a bachelor's degree working a minimum wage job in the summers and you can buy a house and support a wife and kids with an entry-level job.

Or, wait, was that 80 years ago?

Something something avocado toast

[–] Today@lemmy.world 9 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

I saw avocado toast on a menu for $17 the other day! Wtf! Who pays that?!

[–] Frozengyro@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

I just was at a hotel and the horrible 'Continental' breakfast with powdered eggs was 40 fucking dollars. It was included with my stay, but the food was too disgusting to eat. I don't know why you would pay for it.

[–] GuiltyFrost@pawb.social 1 points 6 hours ago

I think hotels like that are just banking on enough business travelers coming through who can expense any food to their company.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 4 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

I was about to correct you, but no, it really has been 80 years. Time is cruel.

[–] schipelblorp@sh.itjust.works 5 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago)

I mean, it wasn't that long ago the the Simpsons represented the bottom of the middle class--a high-school educated father with a stable job (with a dental plan) and a home, two cars, two kids, and a SAH wife.

Just a few years earlier Billy Joel was positively bitching "who needs a house out in Hackensack? Is that all you get for your money?" Like, yeah, that sounds pretty good relative to paying 60% of your income in rent, Anthony.

[–] schipelblorp@sh.itjust.works 2 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

If you're having trouble finding a job, have you tried just going into the company directly and asking? I'm sure they'd take one look at you and immediately see what an intelligent and capable person you are and hire you right away. /s

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago

I think you replied to the wrong comment, but yeah, this advice just keeps getting worse every decade.

[–] lukaro@lemmy.zip 1 points 13 hours ago

Some conservatices can appear decent, but absolutly every last republican is a fucking asshole after too much taco bell.

[–] GalacticGrapefruit@lemmy.world 14 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I don't think any of these assholes have ever had to dumpster dive for groceries before.

[–] decolo@piefed.social 13 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

Had to? no ... but I am certain that RFK Jr has done it for fun

[–] Schmoo@slrpnk.net 1 points 6 hours ago

Why would he need to dumpster dive when there's an abundance of roadkill to be found on his daily commute?

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 5 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Not much raccoon penis in dumpsters, is there?

[–] decolo@piefed.social 6 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

I have to admit I was assuming dumpsters contained maybe more dead animals than was realistic

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

rfk jr prefers FRESH roadkill. no doubt he has the urges to eat a crow once.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 6 points 13 hours ago

Oh, they'll go to war. Just not the one you think.

[–] tormeh@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 9 hours ago

I was hoping not to have to say this, but generally speaking I don't think retail workers are the ones going viral on social media. Whether it's writing skills or editing skills, socioeconomically downwardly mobile media employees are more likely to drive that side of the culture war.

Doesn't mean the plight of the working poor in retail and other service work isn't real, but I'd expect that to be more "quiet desperation" than "viral on Bluesky".
