Not pictured is an over-exploited global south that makes the image possible.

[–] gerald_eliasweb@reddthat.com 1 points 6 days ago

The exploitation is not pictured, because libs also want to end that.

Neatly incorporates those who use the word correctly

And the underlying imperialist fascism

Capitalism with a green façade?

[–] Ferrous@lemmy.ml -2 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Yep, that'd be solarpunk. Liberals love solarpunk because it allows them to imagine a transition to a just future via technology and aesthetics alone. It's all vibes, and it allows them to ignore class analysis.

The oil barrons of the world aren't going to give up their power without some amount of violence.

[–] Doc_Crankenstein@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Bro, you has no idea what solarpunk is.

[–] RiverRock@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Its a visual vibe with some wishful thinking tied on and nothing deeper

[–] naught101@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I don't think that's a good interpretation of solarpunk. Perhaps of some parts of it, but I think in general it's far more socialist/anarchic than what you're saying.

I wish liberals wanted this...

[–] FoxtrotDeltaTango@sh.itjust.works 0 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Well they do, some of them do at least

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 2 points 5 days ago

Some do I'll concede. But this is not what the average liberal wants. They want way more parking lots.

[–] iocase@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 week ago

Best I can do is infinite money to Israel, genocide denialism, and corporate cocksucking

No one really knows what liberals want. They leave that intentionally vague and let you ascribe your wants to be theirs. So evidently OP wants upper end open-air shopping malls.

I think you'll find OP, that liberal leadership only pretend to want those. What they actually want is bribe checks from donors. So as long as the developer is building and actively bribing, liberals will support this. When its no longer convenient for them, they will support the next developer that wants to turn it into..whatever. And they dont give two shits what you or I think about that. They actively resent the fact that they need your vote to stay in power and get the most bribes, and they think we're idiots to be controlled.

Since there are many things depicted here, I'm gonna assume the one thing all liberals want is a large sign with music notes on it.

I want the dominatrix women in leather.

Leftists*

Liberals are NIMBYs or just plain old conservatives in disguise. Just look at how many "democrats" just voted for war with Lebanon and how many want to surveil you with the KIDS act. Even more, they released their Project 2029 and it's the Project 2025 narrowing of section 230 and de-anonymizing the internet.

Liberals are just more PR friendly conservatives.

[–] gerald_eliasweb@reddthat.com 2 points 6 days ago

Yeah, "the left" would have been more accurate

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Can we go maybe 1982 when we could buy a house on a single salary cars were affordable and gas was under a dollar.

Or we aim for 2084 where we've overthrown the ruling class and ended capitalism, so we don't have to worry about affording basic life necessities.

Memes are usually relatable. That thing is... a city or something?
