I haven't kept up with it for the past year, but I know enough not to trust western headlines out right or sources that say Russia has twice the casualties. But also Putin has made plenty of missteps so far.

Ignore the lib map.

No, west just pumped more money into the propaganda after Iran war ended with their defeat.

Not even a little. The only key difference now is that Ukraine is regularly attacking inside Russian territory with drones but that aren't able to do enough damage to slow Russia down, and it is only making average Russians more in favor of punishing Ukraine.

I don't think there's any evidence Russia is suffering especially high losses (compared to the past, but also compared with Ukraine right now, which is arguably what matters most to the outcome). It also doesn't make any sense to me.

Russia seems to have superior firepower in all areas, except recently, the pro-Ukrainian side has been talking up the Ukrainian "drone wall" that's supposedly preventing the Russians from advancing, as well as supposedly improved tactics and deeper drone penetration. Just last year they were marveling at, and complaining about, the supposedly superior Russian Rubicon drone units.

I find it hard to believe that they turned the (self-admitted) disadvantage in FPV drone operations around in a year. I find it hard to believe that something about the Russian infantry tactics would explain high casualties, as both sides use similar tactics. I do not see why Russia's slow advances would expose them to especially more drone fire than Ukrainian defenders, given that the drones can operate tens of kilometers behind the front line. I do not believe any propaganda about supposed mass meat assaults or whatever they're spinning.

In all other weapons systems (except Starlink I guess), Russia seems to have an undisputed advantage. There is also literally no reason to expect Ukrainian soldiers to be better motivated, trained, or lead, quite the opposite.

I am sorry to tell you this, but Putler has sent every Russian to die on the front lines at least thirteen times now. Yes, even women and children. Everyone has died so many times. Also, the whole of Russia has been bombed into a flat plain and then re-made into the old terrain by more bombings.

It really is mystery how Russia still controls all that ground in spite of all that.

3 years of a heavy air campaign didn't knock out the UA war machine.

How could 1 year of a smaller air campaign knock out the RU war machine?

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 8 points 2 days ago

if it did it would be because russia cared about their own losses while nato doesn't care if every living thing in ukrain down to the lichen dies

UA war machine is knocked down for like 2 years already, but they can still run a war because everything that require more than small workshops or field repair is produced and repaired in NATO countries which Russia don't bomb because they don't want WW3.

I wouldn’t say so. Russia is gaining ground in key areas.
