Great Lakes region, USA. June 2026.

I've been on the lookout for flower oriented crab spiders for a few weeks and I'm finally spotting them. I think she's a lady 'cause she's thicc. I'm fairly sure she's a Goldenrod Crab Spider (Misumena vatia).

I'm also in the Great lakes region and have never seen a spider like that before. Any tips for searching?

They can change color based on what color flower they stake out on, but yellow and white flowers are a best bet. They're called goldenrod spiders for a reason, so when that starts blooming that's a safe bet, but I find them on these daisies often.
