I had my second pottery class and definitely made some improvements!

The first class I wasnt really getting centering and coning but I watched some videos and it made a huge difference. I still struggled with pulling walls but it went better than last time and this week im gonna watch more videos which will hopefully help.

There was also a new person who was really nice and a fellow masker of color and im hoping to get to know them better blob-no-thoughts

I also bought some weaving supplies to make more complex patterns that will hopefully make everything easier

Pottery is so cool, you should post something if you're proud enough of it. I love seeing other people post their art on the internet, very cool

When I make something im proud of ill share it blob-no-thoughts

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Fuck yeah I found them

These were my first (and last) clay sculptures that I made. I don't think they are very good but I like my wanderers journal and there is some pride in having made it myself. The coloring on the first one didn't turn out how I want at all but I also had no idea what I was doing lol. Anyway, just thought I'd share :D

I love these!

Is the first one the wanderer's journal?

I definitely get the pride in making something. I do fiber arts but something about pottery feels so much more real to me. Maybe because im struggling with it so every win feels well earned

Thank you :3

The wanderers journal is the second one and it was the best I could do to recreate this from hollowknight

[–] Blockocheese@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago

I never played hollowknight, I thought all the patterns in the first one was supposed to represent a journey you made :D

My therapist helped me through something pretty difficult to deal with. Got a new thinkpad laptop used, and to my surprise, the thing is like brand new.

I've been struggling a bit with my sleep schedule lately too, do you have any advice for helping to fix it?

[–] 9to5@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Im sorry but I dont really have a solution. Besides trying to go to bed as early as you can stomach. Even if that means sometimes going to bed at like 9 and getting up at 5 in the morning.

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's ok. I do tend to stay up too late, so trying to go to bed earlier is probably a good idea that is worth trying, I never end up doing anything useful with the last 3-4 hours of my evening anyway. Good night!

[–] 9to5@hexbear.net 3 points 1 week ago

Yeah the real trick is NOT to oversleep if you can avoid it and try to go to bed early even if you would prefer to stay awake for another 1-2h

Went to a friend's party last night and had a wonderful time, I didn't realise how much I needed it until I got home. I've got some potentially life changing medical news I'll find out about soon, and everyone was just so supportive and validating of my concerns, so I'm feeling way less stressed than I was before. It's easy for me to forget what being loved by people feels like, so this was a really nice reminder of that.

I needed this I've been feeling down all weekend, but this is great for reminding me that I did in fact have a good week. Thank you for spreading positivity my nocturnal flying friend.

I made a new irl friend this week! We spent hours talking and it felt like no time had gone by at all. She's very comfy company and I'll be seeing her again next week!

My wife might have gotten a dream job. The interview went very well.

Despite recovery from surgery being slow, I was able to get my new garden box with soil and mixed. Got the box completely full of various veggies. Also got to pull up the dead ornamental tree the previous house owners put out and let to die. A nice young native hydrangea is in its place now. All of this kicked my butt but it really helped my mental health to do some good work and see it.

I had three interviews for my job change ambitions last week. Hoping to hear back from them this week!
