I try to not step outside as much at physically possible.
This is a bad idea and not healthy.

Understandable.

By not going out, wearing less and less clothes until police comes and sunglasses.
I still feel this weird pressure, "must go outdoors when it's pretty YOU'RE WASTING THE PRETTY DAYS!!" I'm trying to learn out of it and only go outdoors when I feel like it. Sunny days can be great for chilling and gaming, cloudy day is far better for outdoor chores.
Honestly, maybe I'm weird, but I love the sun and feeling a little hot. Could be because my body is otherwise usually very bad keeping warm.
I do hate most sun screen, but I can live with the stuff that doesn't irritate my skin. Blackout curtains are always a necessity for me, but I do live in the city, so that's not a major difference. I always dehydrate easily, regardless of temperature, so I always need extra salt and water, so not that different.
But as a bonus the air is more moist (especially without the heater) so my throat is more comfortable. And I prefer fresh air over recycled air, so it's a bonus when I can open the windows.
The biggest bonus though is shorts, short sleeves, no socks, and open shoes, and I'm still warm enough. I dislike the feeling of most clothing, especially on my feet, but really I'd love to be naked all of the time if my body warmed itself properly.
Omg right? Summer means sandals and bare toes and that means summer is king. I walked around yesterday feeling sun on my skin and it felt like I was recharging spirit energy. And my regular walking sandals are so light now it's like being barefoot. Ahh, heaven.
I got a straw/paper trilby and its been a game changer. The hat, some loose linen clothes and sandals have made me much more heat tolerant than ive ever been
I should try to get some linen clothes for summer for sure!
What I'd like to do.

Arm yourself and avoid the sun when it comes for you?
Knock the sucker right outta the sky with a shell.

I stay hydrated and stay covered!
Looking very sensible! :)
No offense all defense. In the subtropics so the sun is very direct. Mineral sunblock always. Hat or umbrella when walking. Light linen jacket to cover my arms. I don't usually use sunglasses but my regular glasses have UV protection.
Sounds very smart!
ADHD here, not autistic. Hope you don't mind my input. I work as an Arborist climbing trees, and I try my best not to let the sun touch me at all when I'm at work. I wear long sleeves outdoor shirts. I think the ones I have now were made for fishing. They are spf rated, and handle my sweat well. Dry quick, etc. Hat and gloves also. For the end of day I keep a dry tshirt to change into so I'm not sitting in a soggy shirt. I've worked outside full-time for 8 years and I had critically low vitamin d. But it makes being outside in the heat bearable and keeps my skin safe from sun damage.
Wow, vitamin D defiency while working outdoors.. You're taking amazing care of your skin and avoiding those UVs! I personally can't use shirts like that, but that is amazing tip for other people. Would you mind sharing the brand name or such, so it could be more easy to find them or similar products? :)
I got them at Costco years ago, and any branding on it has worn off.
Yo, those shirts for fishing fucking rule, mine had a hood and I love being so protected and breezy. I wish it didn't advertise that it is intended for fishing on it but 🤷♀️

Edit:
We don't have that many mosquitos so that is bearable. But I also have blinds on my window to sleep with it open during the night.
During the day they are gone.
Very good, lot of what I do too. Here we get crazy amount of mosquitoes, so all our windows have nets. I keep them open always when it's cooler outside than it's inside. I love sleeping with a window open.. :)
Same.
If I can, I have my window open all night long.
My record low in my room was 12°C.
Chilly but blissfull sleep :D
I sleep much better in cooler too! During the winter our bedroom is usually 14-16 degrees in Celcius, so I have an extra thick blanket and sleep very, very well. It's hard to adjust to the summer warmth even with a window open. 20 in Celcius feels very hot even with lighter blanket..
Couldnt imagine sleeping around the arctic circle.
24/7 day or night/twilight + humid hot summers with constant mosquitos sound like hell.
I am already getting devoured my mosquitos at home.
(If I am in the same room as my mother, I'll attract 95% of them. And the other 5% will either annoy me or maybe puncture her)
Took me about 23 years to get used to this, to find the tools that work for me. The darkness in the autumn/winter and the light in the spring/summer literally makes the local people die younger. It's very stressful, I absolutely feel like going a bit crazy when the Sun comes back.. And then again, once it starts going away in the autumn. Our pets feel it too, I don't got any proof like that, but they just do. Eating less, more wild, sleeps at different times..
I think it depends a lot on your blood type how much the mosquitoes go after you? At least the locals here say that, and I think it makes a sense because it is visible that others just get bit more. I think I'm a bit allergic to mosquitoes, the first weeks make me look like I had chicken pox.. After that, no issues really. But really, wouldn't change a thing!
(Oh, I haven't even mentioned yet the neighbor's reindeers that WANT TO EAT MY STRAWBERRIES?? Oh well, in the end of the day, reindeers are hungry too so ehh.. Still wouldn't change thing.)
Also have strawberries. 6th generation since I have first bought them and propagated them since then.
Have bought a blueberry bush last year (should be a Vaccinium corymbosum. Already got the first 6 berries on the bush ripening).
Regarding the mosquitos: I remember it being a mix of body chemistry and how much CO₂ you exhale.
But I can't remember it exactly anymore.
I am just ~~mad~~ salty that I get all while my mother receives none while in the same room >:(
Cool! I have gotten my strawberries from a local lady who has created her own strain that thrives on clay ground. And no blueberries here, but every year I pick 10-20 litres of bilberries from forests and then make them into jams and juices. And some pies and muffins too, of course. Important source for vitamins in the winter!
Sun glasses, hats, I really only need to protect my eyes. Summer in the PNW is glorious
I get that, I got very sensitive eyes! Finally getting my first ever prescription sunglasses was a truly life changing day.. Being outdoors turned pleasant in seconds!
I do many of the things you listed and I also treat it being too hot as inclement weather. By that I mean I plan outdoor activities for the cooler parts of the day and come inside if it's getting too warm. I don't plan activities where there is no shade. I've made the mistake of going to the beach and spending the next day feeling really sick from all the UV.
ETA: sorry if this is super obvious, but it wasn't to me: some places are just more pleasant in the summer than others. My backyard fucking sucks most of the time, except this little screened in hut I have because I live in a swamp. Lots and lots of mosquitos. But if I drive half an hour away I can walk along a river with lots of wind and no bugs (but also little shade so I need to plan ahead.)
I also carry an insulated water bottle with me, one that had a straw but also seals completely. I don't care that I look like a trend following white woman, I need to have water with me in case I am able to force myself to drink (I also struggle with that lol?)
Sounds smart! I try to plan my days too by the weather, but sometimes I work in a place that has only outdoor tasks..
I struggle with remembering to drink too, even though even a slight dehydration (feeling dry) causes me great discomfort. Even if I remember the damn water bottle, I might not remember to actually drink from it. :D
I hear you on the drinking. Even if my mouth is so dry it hurts I sometimes find it hard to drink. Carrying the water bottle is super important because I want to take advantage of any time when I'm wanting to.
Edit: one more thing - how is your work about heat safety? I work in industrial maintenance/construction (but not doing the construction, mostly testing) and a lot of the safety program is about weather including heat. Do you feel comfortable asking? They might have suggestions and if you make them aware it might be like, "oh yeah no one said they were hot so we didn't think about it..."
