I'm convinced this was a psy-op from the beginning. Notice how it's nothing more than a proposal, which costs basically nothing. Yet for years through popular culture osmosis I've heard people confidentially say everything from it was researched all the way to saying there 100% is a working "gay bomb". It's almost like the word of it was intentionally spread and prodded to amplify.

The US military doesn't need to actually research a "gay bomb", they just need to make it public knowledge that they are "researching" one. When opponents are conscripts in Iraq and various Balkan groups, who are among those cultures who really don't want to be seen as gay- then the threat of a gay bomb is as effective as a real one, and for a fraction the cost.

Our national policy is that we can't officially comment on the number or level of deployment of gay bombs on our gay submarines or gay carriers. Or on their readiness to be launched via gay ICBMs and gay jets.

But rest assured that any existential threat to our country will find us ready to drop the big gay.

Oh, very convincing... EXCEPT that that's EXACTLY what someone who had a WORKING GAY BOMB would say to throw us off the trail!

Whoever came up with this, I want their job.

Working groups within working groups at the Pentagon, all with obfuscating names.

Read 'The Men Who Stare At Goats' (almost no relation to the movie) as a piece of journalism on Cold War and early GWOT monetary blackboxes.

"Gay bomb" is an informal term referring to a proposed non-lethal psychochemical weapon that was speculated by the United States Air Force in the 1990s. The concept involved dispersing sex pheromones to induce mutual sexual attraction among enemy soldiers, with the intention of causing confusion and disrupting military cohesion.[1]

Dating back to 1994, the Wright Laboratory in Ohio, a precursor to the modern United States Air Force Research Laboratory, drafted a three-page proposal detailing several potential nonlethal chemical weapons. This document, eventually acquired by the Sunshine Project via a Freedom of Information Act request, explores the notion of the "gay bomb" among other concepts.

The Pentagon did not deny that the proposal had been made, stating its commitment for researching non-lethal weapons for military use. Critics, such as Aaron Belkin, director of the University of California's Michael Palm Center, called the idea as "ludicrous" for thinking that an aerosol could possibly change people into homosexuals.[1]

Some folks just can't just can't stand when other people have bigger, sexier dreams.
