No attempt to cuff and walk them off, straight from please move to throwing them on the floor and beating torso to head area with truncheons. They wanted to hurt someone

ACAB, always

We should establish a police watch & train ourselves to counteract the fascists

I don't understand the numbers of police bootlickers on lemmy. Every time police are shown terrorizing and beating people you see multiple people defending it

Used to think it wasn't like that because of my cop father, now I kinda wonder wether he might really be an exception or I might just not know what does he do that makes him "just another ome"

It's the uniform, not the human. Your father rocked. ❤️

Your father rocked. ❤️

I'd say he isn't a good enough person to say he rocks (family issues that go back to, at least, his father, so I might be biased), but I also never saw him as the type of person I often see cops being.

It’s the uniform, not the human

Thank you, I guess this does give me some perspective.

What the hell, I thought Spain would have given them a warmer welcome under Sánchez.

Yeah, this country is still a shithole.

There's a lot of division between "right" and "left" (the right being basically fascists at this point, with VOX and SALF as neofascist parties, and the traditional right, PP, trying to copy them). You can guess which side coppers are on. And they're not liking the pro-palestine protests at all. Every time there's a pro-palestine protest or event, the protesters are labelled as terrorists on right wing TV channels, and some people really believe that.

That video probably won't even get to the news here, and if it did, somehow people would come out of the woodwork to defend the pigs here. All despite the video having pretty damning evidence that the cops just wanted to hurt everyone there, because there was no attempt at deescalation or peaceful arrest.

Moron attempted to assault someone in the crowd and ate a baton for his trouble.

Police is being investigated to see if what they did was correct or not.

What I fail to understand is why did they need to cause a scene at an airport, blocking the arrival gate and triggering the police charge.

I mean, mate, airports are known to be a place where police don't fuck around because they are on "max alert" mode; even more if we talk about a region that, not so long ago, was terrorized by ETA. Now we can argue if what the police did was right or wrong and, seeing these images, I'd say it's fair to open an investigation to know it and punish them if they acted wrongly. But seriously, on an airport, in the Basque Country? Do you have a death wish?

Police are strictly trained to adhere to the principles of proportionality, congruity, and opportunity and when they do not abide by those laws they should get held accountable. I don't know why you are making excuses for the police.

That seems like a particularly shaky foundation for a blanket statement like that, given the current state of police forces across the globe.

A nice idea though.
