Police is being investigated to see if what they did was correct or not.

What I fail to understand is why did they need to cause a scene at an airport, blocking the arrival gate and triggering the police charge.

I mean, mate, airports are known to be a place where police don't fuck around because they are on "max alert" mode; even more if we talk about a region that, not so long ago, was terrorized by ETA. Now we can argue if what the police did was right or wrong and, seeing these images, I'd say it's fair to open an investigation to know it and punish them if they acted wrongly. But seriously, on an airport, in the Basque Country? Do you have a death wish?

Police are strictly trained to adhere to the principles of proportionality, congruity, and opportunity and when they do not abide by those laws they should get held accountable. I don't know why you are making excuses for the police.

That seems like a particularly shaky foundation for a blanket statement like that, given the current state of police forces across the globe.

I think you misunderstood me. I'm not making excuses for them; there are places where police will react differently to a disorder just because of the nature of said places. You don't fuck around in a nuclear plant, you don't fuck around in a train station, you don't fuck around in a hospital and you don't fuck around in an airport (to name a few). Because in places like those, police will prioritize the general safety before that of those fucking around. Sure, the police will then be investigated to see if excessive force was used, but in certain places, it's better safe than sorry.

Even if the police is found guilty of excessive use of force, these idiots fucking around in an airport are still dumb as a sack of rocks.

I'm sorry, but saying 'if the victim hadn't done this, the situation wouldn't have happened' is a justification.

You don't need to wait for an investigation to believe what your own eyes saw. It is pretty clear that the police used disproportionate force, which is against the law. It also shows incompetence, because police are trained to handle all kinds of situations.
