Given that the Albert Bridge is surrounded by perfectly usable motor vehicle bridges, perhaps keeping it as a pedestrian/cycle bridge is not the worst thing that could happen.

And Hungerford doesn’t count. If you count track works that’s akin to road resurfacing (which you have to do way more often than track maintenance) and then you’d have to include every bridge in the country.
