Ive noticed a couple other sites do this too. They freeze up loading unless I have my VPN on.

Content blocked You are trying to access a digital service that provides content protected by copyright or related rights without the authorisation of the rights holder, or to unlicensed online gambling.

The President of the Brussels Business Court has blocked the access to this illegal service. Services that infringe copyright or related rights are added to a blacklist. This list, along with additional information, can be consulted on the FPS Economy’s website.

Anyone who maliciously or fraudulently infringes copyright and related rights risks a fine of 500 to 100,000 euros or imprisonment of one to five years. Infringements of the Gambling Act can also lead to criminal prosecution.

Are you looking for a legal alternative? You can visit the website of the SPF Economy and Agorateka.

It's very possible that it's being blocked by your ISP.

Its odd becuase ive not seen anything else they block. They really dont seem to care about much. Oh well, VPN it is.

Probably shouldn't use your ISP's DNS anyway.

What country are you in? Some countries (I believe the UK is one as an example) have started requiring ISPs to block copyright infringing sites including this one. Other ISPs, especially ones owned by parent companies that also own recording industry companies, have also started blocking sites on their own in places thst don't have net neutrality laws such as the US.

Do a traceroute in both scenarios, that should give you a clue where the traffic goes and where it stops.

Have you tried using a different DNS server? The one you're using could be blocking it. Try using DNS over HTTPS.

I did, I use mullvads DNS. Other ones it still won't work.
