I'd love to see a post about ways to simplify the Fediverse or make it more accessible to people. I don't want to see whatever this was.

[–] overcast@lemmy.zip 5 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

I think OP means “to make it more accessible” to non tech-savvy people, because yeah, decentralisation adds a layer of complexity that turns people away, and that’s not what we want I think enhancing the Sign Up process inside native clients would make it easier to give them an idea of how this works

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago

I'm pretty sure OP wanted to make a post here about politics/religion but would have had it immediately removed if they said it in the post...

Email is simple enough for people. This is no different.
The real problem is the chicken and egg inertia of crowds.

[–] overcast@lemmy.zip 2 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

actually, I’ve seen quite a lot of people not actually understanding email they just associate Gmail with it, and use Google’s UI to write and read, but that’s just the surface the same happens with people associating Google with the whole internet concept, like not understanding what a web browser is

[–] Steve@communick.news 2 points 17 hours ago

And the fediverse can work more or less exactly the same way for those people.

You don't want to "simplify the Fediverse", you just want to not be challenged in your views.

Toss six philosophical grenades into one paragraph and then act shocked when nobody writes a dissertation in the replies before hitting downvote. The dopamine economy marches on!

First implement full portability/migration then just ask few questions about user interests to suggest an instance that suit the best the interests

you can say whatever the fuck you want, you just cant force people to listen.

EDIT: is at least one member of this community able to vaguely demonstrates im wrong, or will it rain downvotes for days with no one willing to peacefully chit-chat with me on the subject? Idk, like normal human beings. Thats a bit terrifying to imagine that one day some of u guys & chicks with or without dicks get elected. Socialist leaders murdered millions of peopevin the 20th century.

Fascists/nazis leaders were both mass murderers too

But!

In the end, the West was not afraid of communism and did not really learn any lessons from it. “Communism isn’t so bad” and “things will sort themselves out.” We certainly benefited from denazification but not from decommunization in the West; Maoism was not repudiated in either the East or the West; and—lulled by luxury consumption—a new generation swoons over the Maoist Cultural Revolution.

Cool, this worked!

What are solutions to simplify the Fediverse?

The fediverse is too much complex to free people from centralized stuff, there will never be a mass migration

Plus its extremely biased towards leftism & hostile to righties of all stripes.

I have my own political views which are a mix of mostly right wing thought w/ a bit of lefty stuff.

I dont give a shit about politics, plus peeps fighy violently against each other while they could just talk about it peacefully like say a hobby.

Political views make peeps blind & agressive & stuck mentally.

Its mental opium poison.

My 2 cents lol.

You're allowed to communicate peacefully with me instead of mass downvoting me without any explanation, while i thought a bit about the subject.

Don't trip.

Not really, people understood email just fine, and fediverse isn't that different. The problem is there's a major subtle push to make anything open source look way more complex than it is. It's basically an open secret that microsoft did this with linux, and I'd be shocked if social media companies aren't doing the same.

it's extremely biased towards leftism

That's inevitable. Anything foss will appeal far more to the anti corporate/ anti capitalist leftist people.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago

Not really

Human variation....

Some people have difficulty with simple things, and they assume everyone else is the same because that's their frame of reference.

The president does it constantly...

1st paragraph: agreed 100%

2nd paragraph: thats not quite true. A LOT of right wing groups are in favor of Open Source.

Communautarians first (he's dead but hes the spirituzl father if this community - & btw his book The Quest for Community is wonderful).

Most right-libertarians too of course:

https://youtu.be/IYO3tOqDISE?is=ah6d6hqWXiUVQb-7

This is spontaneous order, a concept forged by Hayek.

Check this short vid:

Also crazy new right fucks, because they hate capitalism, but the Hayek peeps have nether been refuted, either by socialist or bew right guys

The new right was born in France. Peeeps like Alain de Benoist, who is an interesting folk & he ownd the biggest private library in the world.

The New Right holds some pagan views and see christianism a lie invented by the weak & the poor people to be protected against the strong man.

A bit like internet atheism.

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 3 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Why do you think it's too complex?

[–] toomanypancakes@crazypeople.online 1 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Right wingers don't want me to exist and are actively working on that. Billionaires the world over fund right wingers to push their religious extremism. I'm fine if one fucking space on the Internet doesn't cater to them.

I'm staunchly opposed to mass murder in all its forms.

Some right wingers are dead wrong on fundzmental issues. "Some" Groups are social constructs, only gathered humzn beans exist. Fuck those dumb right-wingerd

Ok thats cool, i was starting to think u guys were in favor of the mass-eradications cambodia style - just kidding, but its funny u feel the need to affirm ur against mass murders.

We got enough atrocities, harmony starts with being decent and interested by new political views in particular, and new things in general, which id necessary for progress.

Hatred towards AI, a huge innovation, isn't surprising.

I'm addressing your point here. I don't randomly bring up that I'm against mass murder, believe it or not.
