Yep. Military psy-ops are the standard now. Propaganda works.

I think the choice to have her as the leader of AfD is intentional. If someone claims AfD is homophobic or racist they can point at her as a counterargument. "If we are racist/homophobic, how could we then have a lesbian leader married to a Sri Lankan?" In a way it's quite smart no? I don't see how this is stupid.

Before someone comments on this I have to say I don't support the AfD. I'm only speaking about the choice of party leader for the purpose of dismissing racist and homophobic accusations.

Yes, her sole purpose is to serve as a token. When she isn't needed anymore, they'll dispose of her. The AfD will have its Night of the long Knives.

Germans have a good international reputation as engineers. Oh and good at making beer, which is possibly more important.

[–] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 1 week ago

Both have not been really true for quite some time now, sadly

Germans are good at making German beer.

I'm willing to bet that one supported the growth of the other, historically. Adjacently, The Sternewirth Privilege's a short but entertaining rabbit hole. 🤗

Did you used to be smart, too?

EDIT: for those late to the party, the OP corrected their title which originally said "...use to be..."

For all intensive porpoises

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Not as long as you've been a fuckin' monkey, for sure.

Well, yes - I have been sexually active since a rather young age, but I don't see how that's... *ahem* ...germane here.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

Not that it matters to the supporters. They’re all MAGAts, however that’s spelled in German.

It works out if the AfD is actually only against illegal immigration like they say. They do their best to make that hard to believe.

At least 72% still disagree with these assholes. If the center parties where less corrupt and incompetent, and mainstream media didn't pile on by sensationalising, framing and dramatising everything in the worst possible way, it would probably be more.

I low-key hope they win one of the upcoming state elections, so people get a preview of how they are an alternative to nothing, with no plan on how to improve anything. If you give them an absolute majority, you don't deserve any better to begin with

At least the package is in 3 languages, so you have to be able to read all 3 to fully understand it.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago

No text at all is required to "understand" that abomination.

Smart? They did elect an Austrian house painter posing as a geostrategic genius once...

Adolf Hitler was not directly elected to the position of leader of Germany. Instead, he was appointed Chancellor on January 30, 1933, by President Paul von Hindenburg through legal political maneuvers, following significant Nazi party gains in parliamentary elections. While his party was the largest in parliament, Hitler never held a majority in a free election.

[–] brotundspiele@feddit.org 1 points 1 week ago

That's how government leaders are usually appointed in parliamentary systems with proportional representation. In the Bundesrepublik it happened only once, that the chancellor's party had the absolute majority of votes (50.2% in 1957). Our current chancellor's party has only been elected by 28.5% of the people, the previous one only got 24%.

No amount oft hair splitting is going to change the simple fact that the Nazis gained power through complicity of a large proportion of the electorate, and more so, the political caste. Through a formally legal and democratic process. Which can happen again.

[–] FalschgeldFurkan@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Look at how often we've elected the CDU - a party known for lobbyism and corruption; a party that keeps kicking downwards in order to benefit those upwards. We were never smart.
