this is purely anecdotal but the change has been pretty significant for me. I used to get a mix of political, educational, and funny content. Recently it's been mostly funny and "satisfying" (brainrot-type stuff). Almost zero politics.

I just paused writing and scrolled for 15 minutes. Only 2 political posts, one from Al Jazeera and another from Zeteo. Nothing from the more relatable regular people creators I used to see all the time.

In terms of enjoyment, TikTok used to be like a best friend. Now it's like a coworker who works in sales and wants me to like them. I've reset my feed settings so many times because TikTok gets so boring.

I have days where my feed turns into constant marketing videos. Like there will be ads but then the videos I get shown are people talking about a specific product or program. They don't directly come out and say they are promoting something. It's like subliminal marketing. I wish I had an example of this. I just know it when I see it.

Suppression is pretty bad. Especially when talking about the "blue and white" country.

I’ve personally barely used it or really any other social media app recently but I’ve heard it’s been a pretty big difference and lots more US propaganda type shit.

I miss my Chinese propaganda personally

I'm in Italy, I do use it less but for the time I used it after the takeover I didn't notice too many differences, even in English content. Even videos that are very positive about China (I get them on YouTube too)

Facebook on the other hand, which I very rarely use, had a terrible period with tons of rightwing propaganda, nothing to do with my profile.

I thought the us takeover was only for the app in us, and other countries were not affected. But I don't use it so haven't been flowing closely.
