The best habit one can ever develop is to compulsively press the save keybind after every single edit.

Or just turn on autosave

Sometimes I ctrl+s when there have been no changes, or in applications that autosave, it just feels right

Yep. Every pause in typing is followed by Ctrl + S. It's so habitual that I'll also do it sometimes when typing posts here, which is annoying because it opens up the browser's 'save page as' dialogue, which isn't what I wanted.

But, yeah. If I've stopped typing for more than two seconds, I'm hitting Ctrl + S.

What IDE do you use?

So I can avoid it.

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 4 points 2 weeks ago

Seriously, what IDE out there both doesn't have autosave and doesn't even prompt you to save an unsaved document before you close it?

Didn't have that problem for a decade or so now. My IDE saves when it loses focus

Oh, and commit in small steps

my most used keybinds in krita are definitely ctrl+s and ctrl+z

i think it actually has autosave, i should probably enable it or maybe it's already enabled. ctrl+z'ing too much is not a good habit for artists though i gotta stop doing it so much.

ok it's already enabled every 5 min, and backup files get saved to /tmp/, though i should probably configure it to use my other disk if that's possible
