It's not quite easy getting a photo while not only wearing it, but also showing the front plus a bit of the backside of the watchband at the same time. It's a snap-on design, where I spent like a week shaping and sizing the leather to my wrist, including water shrink shaping and sizing, before considering it properly finished.

A couple background links...

The DS2000, Desk Scratcher 2000!

This is the 3000 model though.

Nah, I'm actually pretty careful with it, it's very rarely caused any scratches.

Hell, I do vehicle work, and don't ever want to scratch anyone's paint. The quick snap makes that a very easy solution, just unsnap it and put it away for a bit.

It looks awesome man. In highschool I did something like this that just looked okay... Like a national watch. I didn't have any money but my dad worked with leather. So I made myself a strap. I found my watch in a pile of broken things at a swap meet. Next thing you know I got a nice looking watch. Yours is way better than anything I could have tried to pretend to make.

Do you find it sized differently during the day?

I find I have to have my watch a bit tighter in the morning then by late morning my wrist is tight against the strap and I have to loosen it a notch.

This might be annoying on a strap that isn't as adjustable.

Good question 👍

For me, the size doesn't change significantly enough to make a difference, the margin of error is perfect for me.

The only real factor that might start bothering me every few days to a week or so might be a mild itch on my wrist, but that's easily cleaned with isopropyl rubbing alcohol.

I lined the inside of it with a section of bicycle inner tube..

Is that a custom job? Who made it?

[–] over_clox@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

Yep, very much a custom watch band, I made it myself back around November 2024. Yes, Casio made the watch itself (WS-1300H), but I made the watchband for myself.
