Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

Rules
  1. πŸ˜‡ Be Nice!

    • Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
  2. 🏘️ Community Standards

    • Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
    • Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
    • Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
    • Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
  3. 🧬 Keep it Real

    • Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
  4. πŸ“½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due

    • Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
    • Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
  5. πŸ“‹ Post Formatting

    • Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
    • Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
    • When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
      βœ… Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
      ❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
  6. πŸ“¬ Post Frequency/SPAM

    • Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 πŸ–) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 πŸ–) will be removed.
  7. πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)

    • Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
      SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
  8. 🍿 Moderation

    • We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
    • When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists

The following artists are banned from the community.

  1. Jago
  2. Stonetoss

It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.

Web Accessibility

Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.

When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:

Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

I'm probably gonna give someone lemmy bingo for this, but:

I bet it still works under Linux

Ahh I'm so close, would you mind adding an improperly formatted spoiler?

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 22 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Haha not today >! I'm not a clown!>

I dug out my 10 year old drawing tablet recently and resigned myself to fiddling with driver issues or display configs. That's what I had to do back then to get it working with Linux. But to my delight, it was plug and play.

Oh man is this real because now I want to do it

I'm a furry Linux using kinkster trans girl.

That oughta get you some squares.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world -1 points 3 weeks ago

You're far from square

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Anyone have a link? I didn't find anything with a search.

[–] Damage@feddit.it 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Link for what? The thousands of drivers in the Linux kernel?

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Lemmy bingo. Isn't that what we're talking about? Or is this some joke I don't understand?

[–] rapchee@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

people can make bingo cards for themselves
i vaguely remember seeing it in some (probably american) show, people went to a thing by a disliked character and when the thing was happening, they randomly giddily drew on a paper, and then they realise they all made bingo cards and they compared what they guessed might happen

Linux: "Company? Update driver? The driver was written by gary420 and will work forever as long as you get this compatibility layer for libinput 6.9 or earlier. Also, you can remap buttons if you understand gary420's weird config file format, there's a readme in the repo..."

[–] slacktoid@lemmy.ml 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Gary420 was a little cooooky but also respected you as a user to know how to use your tool better than what they envisioned.

[–] ChaoticNeutralCzech@feddit.org 11 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

Except tap zones because gary420 didn't like them. You can configure tap zones βˆ’ in a nice GUI, even βˆ’ if you use the fingrr touchpad driver instead, but you lose hover sensing and pressure sensitivity.

[–] slacktoid@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah gary420 doesn't care how or what you interact with your touchpad

[–] ChaoticNeutralCzech@feddit.org 2 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

As long as you don't use Adobe software. Wacom partnered with Adobe to feature trademarked Photoshop tool icons for the tap zones, which gary420 scraped right off just like the Windows key symbol on his keyboard.

[–] slacktoid@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 weeks ago

Oh gary420 hated adobe, and even rejected a job offer from them

[–] ZoteTheMighty@lemmy.zip 11 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I've never used a Wacom tablet, I don't think I've ever even seen one, yet I know they did some weird shit in their drivers because they always get their own section in settings for any OS.

[–] limelight79@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

I played with a knockoff one time at a computer show and sale (hah, remember those?!). I didn't feel like I'd use it enough, so I didn't buy it. Now I'm kind of curious. I wonder if I can pick up one cheap to play with. Might be the kind of thing I find uses for after buying it (I'm a photographer so it might be helpful while editing).

[–] rodneylives@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

Could also try OpenTabletDriver in case it'll get it to work: https://opentabletdriver.net/

[–] nathanjent@programming.dev 4 points 3 weeks ago

This is the exact reason i switched to Linux so many years ago. The tablet still works great.

Device drivers don't write themselves.

[–] parzival@lemmy.org 0 points 3 weeks ago

Something slightly similar happened to me a couple mos ago, I was attempting to install an alternative os on my phone, in order to do that I had to install xiaomis custom driver, unfortunately windows wouldn't let me put the driver for a phone onto an "unknown device type"
