Of course there is nothing remotely funny or uplifting about this news. It is just animals trying to survive in an environment where their usual sources of food are disappearing on account of manmade climate changes.

Yes and no. The article explains how similar patterns emerged in the last 55 thousand years: colder, low productive eras -> more meat. Warmer and greener -> more plants.

It's also a regional thing. You go from 'eat no meat' in northwest India to 'eat all meat, including beef' in the east and far south.
