I think your particular feelings are more about you than gaming itself. Which is fine. As long as you try to prioritize the things you have to do (like work, study and/or care for your loved ones) you'll find a balance that works for you. You don't need to constantly play whatever is new either, many people find joy in older games (with or without nostalgia). Find out what you actually like and just play whatever that is.

- 3: No untagged game spoilers. If the game was recently released or not released at all yet, use the Spoiler tag (the little ⚠️ button) in the body text, and avoid typing spoilers in the title. It should also be avoided to openly talk about major story spoilers, even in old games.
eh i mean its not really New Games even as afterall i do also play Old Games that i grew up with :P
Its just the general Vibe from my Persecption Changed i feel like >.>
tho not in a "GRRRR Games are getting Too Woke >:((((((" obviously :P
I think for most of your examples it's your rose-colored glasses speaking.
also a ton more Toxic and Mean
You're just forgetting all the console war stuff from the past. Or the "CoD lobby" type shit.
E3 or even Gamescom from the 2010s im like "Holy Shit look at all these Cool Games" but obviously nowadays its just "meh" really
Again, I think you're just not thinking about all these mediocre games that have existed since the very beginning. All the shitty movie tie-ins or whatever, that got pumped out all the time.
Gaming has been toxic and mean for a loooong time. Shitty games have been made since basically the very beginning.
And before CoD lobbies it was Halo and Socom lobbies. PvP skill based games will always foster toxic communities because the tryhards don't understand friendly competition.
Unsure if my Text really makes sense tho as its a bunch of Weird Nonsense im typing out as i suck at expressing myself via Text but maybe someone can relate? >.<
Line breaks between paragraphs help. Emojis don't. Writing is a skill you can practice, so don't give up.
To your point, maybe you're just getting older? There's always been a small number of breakouts and a bunch of clones and shovel-ware. When you're a kid, things are new and unlimited in their potential. As you get older, you realize that the game world is limited
To get a fair comparison, you'd need to poll people who are the same age that you were at the time you're comparing to. I bet you'll find that they're just as into gaming as you were at that age. What's happening is that you're getting older, and you aren't enchanted by the same things that you once were. Basically, this is a 'Back in my day...' rant about the 'good old days'.
Yeah it happens once you game for a while and most of the puzzles are solved you start to see them in new games and its not as fun as they were the first time. Finding different genres can help but also just finding a different hobby for a while
About being a generic title, doesn't sound so imo. More like "it sounds like it carries personal meaning to the posts". Also about the post making sense or not, seems a bit rambly, though I'd say it's understandable, being annoyed and all.
About lack of capacity to choose, I've been noticing that since 2018, so maybe it isn't a recent issue at least. Also if I may suggest, maybe try pushing past maybe the second mark (boss, stage, puzzle, etc.) before making a verdict. Some times it just takes time for a game to grow on you.
About degrading quality, usually the games in such events are a minority, a loud one but still a minority. If you didn't, ever considered trying indies and older games?
Also, in the past 10~20 years, a degradation of culture overall seems to have happened, these bigger games at least in perception seemingly being the most affected by it, and indies being decentralized projects being harder to have these shifts leaked onto them (and old games are static in time hehe). So another reason to recommend those two groups.
I've been gaming since C64 days. We had the problem of too many games already back then. Hundreds of pirated games on disks and most of them weren't even good.
The other day I felt the urge to play a new game from the "dead" point & click adventure genre. Filtered my Steam games and even found a relatively recent one with full Steam Deck support that was given away for free.
And I think I can do that with basically any genre.
Great indy titles get released all the time. Emulation gives me the ability to play almost everything from the entire history of gaming. Or just play one of my favourites. I just have to reach out and play. 2023 was an amazing year for gaming. 2025 wasn't bad either.
Sure, bad games get made as well. But when I feel down I can just stop playing those and play Diarrhea 4 instead.
Haha ur old & disillusioned.
