Amazing how past player of the game want to change the rules only when it suits them. I'm all in favour, but FPTP was just as shit when it put Major in Power as it is today.
UK Politics
General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
FPTP is inherently antidemocratic so there is that.
Yep and not it looks like the Tories will no longer be in the big 2.
Suddenly their members give a shit.
Honestly though as bad as that looks.
Those of us who have been calling for this for decades. Need to really amp up the push.
For the first time ever. Every party may be able to see the negatives.
Yep. Progressives should try not to make too big of a fuss about the hypocrisy - just suck it up and use the damn opportunity!
Pr-stv is the most democratic process and an absolute must for democracy.
Pro-Steve?
Proportionally Representative Single Tranferrable Vote.
If nothing else, Approval Voting is as simple as letting people check multiple names. Most votes wins. It's literally that simple, and it gets roughly ideal results. There is no good reason it's not the default.
