Behold, my $275 wooden spoon

Assembly was required. Fortunately there was an expert instructor and all tools required.

It started out as a chunk of firewood, then we used an axe and various carving tools to turn it into a spoon. The wood is from a nectarine tree. Once it has dried out fully in a few weeks time I can sand and oil it to finish it off.

It was rather hard work, and I am definitely cancelling tomorrows planned weightlifting session, as I am unlikely to be able to grip anything, let alone lift it.

I also got a bonus couple of garbage bags full of woodchips to put on the garden.

Did you do that? Nice job.

I was wanting to learn how to whittle but not sure I can be trusted with a proper sharp knife

Thereโ€™s so much good music in this city. Unexpected for a place that is at the end of the world. Hell yeah Melbourne.

Ah shit. Despite posting about it 2 years ago I havenโ€™t been shopping around between energy retailers or applying for discounts.

But Iโ€™ve had so much on my mind. Itโ€™s constant survival mode with no time or space to really sit down and get anything sorted.

Itโ€™s constant survival mode

I hear you

[โ€“] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 points 23 hours ago

Yep. Itโ€™s not even back to back crises, they overlap and stack.

Stir fry of pork fillet & bok choy with mashed potato. Various tasty sauces according to whim.

I love a good whim

Steak, roast sweet potato, roast cauliflower, rocket salad at my place.

I love a good steak once in a while.

Decided I'm actually not going out today. The weather is just terrible and I want to sit outside lol

Will probably go on Wednesday arvo, as the weather looks better

Time to hurry up and chill

I wish to register a complaint. These hot twiggy sticks are not.

One minute in the microwave should fix them. I saw this on tv.

Fuzzbutt was crying outside so I hurriedly made up the tentโ€ฆ but he got impatient and left. Didnโ€™t get to give the meds. Hopefully he comes back.

Iโ€™m thinking of slinging some winter warmer poverty meals out there but donโ€™t know whether to put it in Aussie Frugal or Food Australia

Just about to head out to the bakery on the corner for a banh mi and coffee. The word on the street is that they've just done a batch of coconut slice. Does anyone else want some?

[โ€“] Force_majeure1234@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Crispy pork banh mi please ๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿฅฅ๐Ÿ”ช ๐Ÿช ๐Ÿš›

Is anyone here, or does anyone know, a builder in the Preston/Thornbury kinda area who can do commercial fitouts? Nothing high spec, just enough to satisfy council permits and get me started pouring beers. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I feel like I should get a prize for cleaning the house with a migraine.

Throwback to early days

I got the tent and set it up inside just in case. The little one has forgiven me for last night and came back this morning for food and gloved pats. Was meowing to come in. Havenโ€™t let him in yet but Iโ€™m trying to get ready in case it has to happen.

Iโ€™ve got a big birthday coming up but am sad Melbcat isnโ€™t here to share it. Iโ€™m probably just going to do normal stuff (or as normal as things get around here).

So good. Textbook. I think I saw 3,200,000 peak viewers on the NASA YouTube livestream.

YL is dog sitting (staying at the house). I got this text.

Question: If someone was staying at your house on their own for 2 weeks what might they find strange?

I think someone would be curious about the amount of speakers and disco lights here.

[โ€“] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Bed in a non-bedroom room because of upcoming works.

The random tent inside. Either to be used as emergency ringworm cat accommodation or I can sit or sleep in there to save on heating bills this winter.
