[T]elling the astronauts how much they deserved the honor of the president seeking their autographs.

This was what I was thinking when listening to the call. Everyone is celebrating the courage of these astronauts, but unsurprisingly Trump rather praises himself..

Ps. I like to believe that the silence near the end of the call wasn't a technical issue.

Would have been courageous to tell him to drop dead in front of the world. Not going to blame astronauts for not doing that, but fuck him.

Yea, what's he gonna do send ICE after them? Not only are they out of his league, they are out of this world.

I mean Trump did start that Space Force he hasn't done anything with yet....

Just to be clear, the idea of the Space Force was first publicly fielded during the Bush administration, and pushed closer to fruition by the Obama administration. Basically nothing in this country happens under one president.

He would cancel future Artemis missions out of spite

That would mean canceling all the pork to Senator’s states. He already tried to kill the NASA budget last year and Congress didn’t let him. Money rolling into their states seems to be one of the few things Congress will still fight for right now.

What’s he going to do? Come get them?

If they die in the mission he will say that they were losers any way are better dead on space that wasting resources on NASA and then cut down nasa budget because they need that money to bomb more schools on Iran.

Lmao, didn't Trump propose a 24% budget cut to NASA? What a fucking moron, almost as bad as the idiots that believe a word out of his Bubba filled mouth.

He is such a liar…

[–] hperrin@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 days ago

That was the most embarrassing phone call I’ve ever listened to.
