The linked video in the announcement says the bill was assisted by one of Meta's safety divisions. It regulates apps from the OS setting at device setup. Unclear if this is age attestation on install or ID verification since the video states it's the parent's choice but the article says it can't be set up to just enter DOBs. Bill text or number is not out yet. This is from the same person who supported the KOSA.

Only a couple of news sources I saw covered this: NJ 101.5 (doesn't have link to the announcement), NY Post, and Total News (which seems to be republishing the same thing the NY Post is)

Call your reps. Please make sure this unconstitutional bill doesn't make it through.

We should burn down Meta HQ. They'll take this the world over so that they ensure it does not become their responsibility. Fuck you, Zuckerburg.

Burning down Meta HQ won't solve the issue. The only thing that will solve the issue is to abolish capitalism, ban billionaires from existing even if that means forcibly seizing their assets, and give ownership of businesses to the workers who work for them.

Whenever individuals are allowed to have power over others, they will abuse that power in any way they can in order to gain more power.

Always be wary when you hear "bipartisan, commonsense legislation", especially when it is announced by one of the most rabidly Zionist members of Congress.

The only 'bipartisan' legislation in this dungheap is the worst sort of stuff imaginable

So yeah this is the newest attempt at the fash to ensure no organization can occur online especially from any youth wing

[–] happybaby@hexbear.net 2 points 1 hour ago

I don't think it has anything to do with age, this is just "let me see your papers" in digital form.

to ensure no organization can occur online

“Well you see, environmental protections are bad because they oppress people. Why do you hate civil liberties?”
