Fair Voting B.C. and the Springtide Collective for Democratic Society argued in court that the first-past-the-post system violates the Charter of Rights and Freedoms' guarantee of effective representation.

This made me double check the charter. There is no such guarantee. Section 3 is very clear

Every citizen of Canada has the right to vote in an election of members of the House of Commons or of a legislative assembly and to be qualified for membership therein.

https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/const/page-12.html

The organization of representation is not within charter scope.

Thus the supreme court is in the right here. This isn't them siding with big business or elites. This is a matter of legal application. It's frankly dishonest to disparage the SC otherwise, and sad to see some of the reactions in these comments.

FPP needs reform, but it has to be done legally. This challenge doesn't hold up.

Gross they’re aiding and abetting the rich political elites who set up unfair first-past-the-post to water down our democracy.

Who do you think gave them their cushy jobs?

Well of course they won't.

So it's not just america that has a supreme court issue. If first-past-the-post voting can be proven to be more representative and more fair then do it. Otherwise it is proof that you are complicit with big money and we still have a lot of work to do to clean our own house.
