People, both here and at large, underestimate the effort and money spent by nuclear energy lobbyists to propagandise about Nuclear energy's safety and profitability.
I saw a huge event nearby, touted as an educational science fair, whose main purpose was to straight up spread misinformation to kids. The one I remember being "Solar creates 14 times the radioactive waste than nuclear!" and another pretending that low-level nuclear waste isn't thaaat dangerous.
If the technology significantly advances as it's long-promised, there may be some limited room for nuclear energy. But as things stand now, renewables + storage is the cheapest form of energy in the vast majority of cases. And if its efficiency keeps improving as it has, that'll upgrade to 'basically all the cases'.
