Basic Sync finally landing on F-Droid removes one of the biggest excuses people used for sticking with Google Drive or Dropbox. Syncthing has always been the superior option for self-hosted sync, but the lack of a clean F-Droid client pushed people toward proprietary alternatives. The F-Droid ecosystem just got meaningfully better.

Syncthing has been the gold standard for self-hosted file sync for years, and getting Basic Sync on F-Droid finally removes the last barrier for privacy-conscious users who refuse to touch Play Services. The F-Droid repository model means updates come through at the maintainer's pace rather than Google's, which is exactly how it should be for a sync tool handling sensitive data. Anyone who has dealt with Syncthing's older APK distribution knows this is a massive quality of life improvement for the community.

Absolutely bizzare. The account doesn't post for 2 years, and then suddenly is spamming about every Android topic one can think of in the exact same cadence. No similarity between the old comment habits either.

It looks like the kind of account selling/repurposed you would see on Reddit after making a lot of karma but... obviously these communities do not have the kind of social pull that would justify that. Why do this??

Easy block and move on
