Honestly, good for him. Sounds like a dream come true and his is absolutely one of the biggest LOTR nerds on earth. And it keeps him away from politics.

eh, every time i've heard him show off his expertise, it turned out he knew less than me and i'm nowhere near an expert.

he's definitely read the silmarillion (probably a few times at least) but that alone isnt much.
