Does anyone even use this? Or does anyone here have friends who regularly post on signal Stories?

Personally I have never seen anyone use it.

No, only have family converted to use signal.

I believe stories was a feeble attempt at competing with social media.

IIRC it was a community ask, like there were a lot of person spamming poll to have it on the Signal site. They did it because they’re democratically cool like that but I’m pretty sure that Signal core engineers felt it was bullshit

I've done it a couple of times, I think I need to actually tell people I'm going to use it first though!

I saw someone suggest here that it's kind of the perfect replacement for what would have been a Facebook status or something similar back in the day: a general "hey, here's something kind of interesting but not for anyone in particular, it doesn't really need a response though".

Nope. I disabled it immediately

Nope. Tried it once, zero views. I think the feature is there for feature parity with other apps. But the people I was able to convert truly don't gaf. Maybe we are just too sophisticated.

I disabled it the day the feature was released. It's cringe-worthy social media trash, and Signal can do better. Same with the scam mobile coin stuff.

Same. Forgot it even existed until I read the title of this post.

I used it for shit posting, like documenting my afternoon in a IKEA and my slow descent into agony and despair.

I have a friend that travel a lot and he use them to show us what is happening and not slow down the thousands of conversations/groups my friends made

I don't use it, and I've seen less than a handful in total from my contacts.

But if it did or does make others join Signal then I'm glad that it's there.

Disabled + the few contacts that agreed to use Signal won't be using it

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 1 points 3 weeks ago

I do. Only a few of my contacts look at them, though, and even fewer post things to them.

I haven't used it yet, but I will probably use them for travel updates later. People ask for holiday photos, but I don't want to bother sending them as dms. I totally understand that people disable them though.

Nope, don't need crap like that in my messaging app. I'm honestly still pissed they went away from working over to SMS to using their own (regularly failing) servers and then being very actively hostile to any forks and plain reproducable builds. Signal remains the most easy-to-convince-people option, but there's still a lot that looks mighty suspicious (and pointless features is one of those classic ways to hide deliberate backdoors/vulns).
