Usually I buy the 100 packs of generic black tea bags but I’m having some Earl Grey tea as a treat (from one of the little 10 packs).

I got a lift to Kmart for new earbuds and checked out the tubs… the different sizes don’t nest properly, the smaller one was too tall to allow the outer lid to go on. Even without the insulating layers of straw adding to the height.

Maybe I’ll see what the big green shed offers, or if I can make something work with the miscellaneous tubs I have. Though they’re not black to hold in heat and aren’t uv safe. Cutting them will be interesting because I have a mini hacksaw and Stanley knife but no blowtorch or drill. I just saw a pair of fuzzy buns wander past again so that means he does not go home when it rains.

Otherwise I don’t know what else to do. I bought some books from the op shop but have been unable to concentrate on reading even though I used to be a big reader. Maybe I’ll go learn a random skill off youtube. idk.

spoilerThings got really bad recently, I’m being referred to grief counselling and am trying to stay busy but am dying inside. Everything reminds me of my deeply loved Melbcat and I’m swinging between regrets that I didn’t try harder to save her and regrets at making her hold on because I didn’t know the worst of it. And regrets that I didn’t do even more to make her happy and enriched in the time we had. I just want to hug her again.

It takes twice as long to get to Berwick from Belgrave by public transport, as it does to get to the CBD from Belgrave 🤯

I believe it, PT times are crazy

[–] TheWitchofThornbury2@aussie.zone 5 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I must apologise - I watered the garden this evening. So I take full responsibility for the current rain.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 points 2 hours ago

no, it's good, we need the rain 😊 thank you

The magpies are eating the leftover cat food… they’re going to be the size of emus

[–] TheWitchofThornbury2@aussie.zone 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

That ancient Aussie curse - May your chooks turn into emus and kick your dunny door down!

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 2 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

They will carry away the cat :(

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 points 59 minutes ago (1 children)

the magpies will be tame and befriend you and black cat 😊😸

The job stress is causing the heart issues. First day in office for 7 days and my heart was going a bit wild all day.

Plus was waiting to see it they'd fire me.

Hopefully these interviews this week go well.

[–] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I hope the heart eases man. No fun at that high bpm.

Also lol at the brollie. I'm sure the kitties appreciate it :)

I appreciate it man ❤️

Today was pretty bad so I'm really hoping I make it through these interviews this week.

It's sort of at the point of: if I stay, I'm putting myself at risk from stress.

But we'll see what happens :)

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 0 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

miss seagoon was like this when younger, she was on beta blockers 😔

hugs and good luck with the interviews

Thank you ❤️

I am back from my local cinema. It is a very nice and old fashioned theatre. I watched PHM again, to catch the things I missed the first time.

It is a very beautiful movie, the images unforgettable.

[–] useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

It’s lovely. I’m guessing you had the whole place to yourself

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

even tho it was a morning session the cinema was a quarter full!

there were also about a dozen young teens in there taking advantage of the day off due to the teachers strike 😊, How is it young ones love to sit near front? They stayed for the whole movie and were well behaved, I'm assuming they enjoyed it. 😊😊😊

My Temu return has been dropped off at the post office. They have a very weird return algorithm for their bots to follow. I also had a watch band I was going to return and had arranged to go to a parcelpoint location which is closer, but because I had to go to the post office anyway I cancelled the return so I could re-do it with an Aus Post label instead. But this time it just decided I didn't need to return it and just refunded the money. I guess the op shops getting a watch band.

Black cat is napping in the back yard. Feeling so sad that Melbcat could no longer enjoy like that (safety reasons).

Wondering if I should make a winter shelter for him but what happens if he comes to rely on me/my place and then I move? Also my physical and mental health are really unstable now. 😔

If he wasn’t owned and I wasn’t going through hell I might consider fostering or adoption (if I became more ready) but that’s not really a possibility. It’s a real pickle.

so, uh, I guess they're officially coming home with us now. (well, thursday)

We're renaming them to Samuel (Sammy) Frederick and Maxwell (Max) George because we are not fans of JKR, but it seems disrespectful to summarily dismiss those who saved their lives. Also we found out that they were literally due to be euthanised the same day as Misha before KRS found an emergency foster. His Lordship also never looks at pet rescue because it breaks his heart but for some reason he did the day they were listed - with Max looking uncannily like Misha (including, as we found out on visiting, a damaged tail)

The world works in weird ways.

Cerys knows something's up as we're doing up the dining room as a landing zone, but she's incredibly food motivated (as is Sam) so I don't forsee any massive problems considering they'd both sell their grandmothers for a freeze dried crocodile bite.

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 1 points 1 hour ago

I can't wait to hear about their antics!

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 3 points 4 hours ago

Welcome chaos boys

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 points 4 hours ago

they are so lovely 🥰😸😸

Misha was an incredibly good momma cat, and even years after being fixed would always come investigating if anything playing had a kitten mew in it. So we're telling ourselves we're looking after babies for her.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 4 points 6 hours ago

She would love that. She had to go but she saved these boys

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 3 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

They are lovely. I see shenanigans in your future!

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 3 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

oh we've had kittens and ginger boys before (Punkin and Cerys and their siblings were literally born in our last house), so we know what to expect. Bandaids stocked up and all breakables are being moved to floor level. The one and only time Punkin decided to check out the top of the fridge he smashed four out of a box of six imported belgian tulip glasses all over the kitchen so His Lordship has LEARNED THE LESSON

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 3 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Ginger boys make up for it with love though!

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 4 points 4 hours ago

oh they do. They really really do.

the downside is your heart shatters when they pass

Awaiting surprise pakige sent from a OS family member. It’s not a special occasion (birthday/ Xmas), so I’ve got no idea what it is.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 points 4 hours ago

sounds wonderful 🤗

I forget which day it is this month, but it's 11 years sober in March 2026.

I kinda wish I was in a more celebratory mood but I honestly dgaf at the moment.

Yay I guess.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 3 points 9 hours ago

weirdly, DGAF is also a good sign. Not drinking is so habitual now you don't even notice no mo. Proud of you, bud.

Made it down the bellarine yesterday.

Way too much noise from the buildings next door.

Made my mind up when there was 180 degree oasis wonderwall at 7:00am mixed with bashing scaffolding together. I am NOT doing wonderwall at that ungodly hour.

Also the bus from g-town to queenscliff was 100% packed so I guess fuel is starting to bite. Lotta well dressed middle aged peeps. Usually there's only a handful of people if that.
