In Germany there are a lot more Jones about the French army, which probably stem from how fast France was captured in ww2.

Basically every country in mainland western europe was either axis aligned or capitulated, nobody hates on Denmark, Finland, or the Netherlands, for example, do they? and the French scuttled their own navy to prevent it from being seized.
Not all of it. The British finished off what they had left believe it or not. The French still haven't forgiven them.
We should be calling it the flag of the confederate states.

In a way, this is quite idealistic. I hope one day all flags on earth will too be bleached, and we can all share a planet with neither nations nor borders. One humanity, united.

Of the three experts quoted, this one is actually the most optimistic. All three agree that the flags would be bleached white. Two of them believe that the flags then turned to ash. The meme shows a flag that is bleached white, but otherwise intact; this is almost certainly not the case.
It actually makes it an American confederate territory.

IIRC a British engineer secretly etched a Union Jack on the leg of the Apollo 11 lander, so that’s the only flag still on the moon.
