RULES

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (e.g. politics or societal debates).
  4. Stay calm: Don’t post angry or to vent or complain. We are a place where everyone can forget about their everyday or not so everyday worries for a moment. Venting, complaining, or posting from a place of anger or resentment doesn't fit the atmosphere we try to foster at all. Feel free to post those on !goodoffmychest@lemmy.world
  5. Keep it clean and SFW
  6. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc.

So now that I’m an adult by the US, my parents want me to start in the working world. I’m planning on working at a café and even making friends with the regulars and coworkers my age 😊

I don’t know how you feel about your parents making that decision for you but it’s the right thing to do. Getting a job will give you experience, resilience, confidence, and if you’re lucky, a little money.

While the work is brutal, I loved every restaurant job I have ever had. It is so much fun, having a lot of food to experiment with, the silly gallows humor.

Hopefully you connect with a good crew.

You are the newbee so remember these four rules:

  • Be on time every time
  • Be in the right place
  • Be in the right uniform
  • Maintain good personal hygiene

How old are you? Do you need to fully support yourself?

Nah, I still live with my parents and I’m only 18
