This is the vibe I get when I see articles like this.

Those people (Republicans) are lost, and liberals are still holding on to their "The West Wing" fantasy. It's up to progressives and leftists to build community networks, win local elections, and show the brainwashed and exploited masses (looking at you MAGA), that there is a better way towards dignity and prosperity. It sure as shit isn't this neo-fascist cyberpunk dystopia fast track we're on.

Right. These types of articles are such BS as most of the MAGA crowd literally does not give a shit. Completely out of touch leftists keep going "No, that can't be right. They must certainly be upset with what's going on. No one can see what's happening and actually support it!" while missing what's actually going on in reality.

The truth is, most MAGA followers don't have the first clue as to what's happening and vehemently don't want to know. That's the part people in leftist spaces don't get. Most folks on the right aren't in support of the war or tarriffs, or Epstein, or any of that; they support Republicans and that is the end of the conversation. They don't talk about that kind of shit. They talk about sports. They talk about their next family vacation. They talk about what new things they've bought and how kids today are lazy. That's as far as it goes. When they are confronted with facts, they wave them away because obviously it's all just an overreaction and both sides are bad, so who cares? If it was something REALLY bad, then they would have heard about it, right? Anyways, stop trying to make people upset, we're trying to watch Sports Center.

These people are so fucking clueless and are actively avoiding talking about or hearing anything negative. They have convinced themselves that any and all criticism as just meaningless complaints from angry leftists with TDS.

Quick clarification of terms, since I think you are using them incorrectly. In general, liberals, progressives and leftists ideologies are categorized as such.

  • Liberals want to make capitalism fair.
  • Progressives want to regulate it.
  • Leftists want to move beyond it.

In the current US political environment the three terms are best used to describe the following groups.

  • Liberals - Clinton, Obama, Biden, Schummer, etc. What we in Lemmy tend to describe as the "Democratic establishment".
  • Progressives - AOC, Bernie, Mamdami, etc. The Democratic socialists that want to fix and reform the current system.
  • Leftists - Almost always anti-capitalism. Want to replace the system if possible.

You know the lib.world brainrot is bad when you can give them verifiable truths and they disregard all of it because of your instance.

Leftists want to move beyond it.

That's not always true. Many self described leftists support authoritarian state capitalism.

Generalizations are bad, mmmmmkay. Not everyone in .ml is marxist/lenninist. For a very long time .ml was Lemmy's main instance and is still very tech focused. A two second glance at my history would have clued you in.

Your comment clued me in

Yes, this is how fascist power structures behave. There is no truth and the Big Lie only lasts as long as people benefit from it. However gas prices, epstein, maha and all the other shit, that doesn't affect the billionaire class. So likely as not, little will change if the people of America do not actively resist. The quibling of his 30% base means nothing if the other 70% do nothing.

Hoping MAGA will see the light is like hoping the racoon in your garbage can will start cleaning up after himself. It's a waste of time, he's got rabies and gonorrhea.

But enough schisms and claiments to the cheeto throne diminishes their voting power
