Police say they are investigating chants of "death to the IDF [Israel Defense Forces]" led by Bobby Vylan, of the punk duo Bob Vylan, at an Al Quds Day protest in central London.

Videos on social media appeared to show Vylan, whose real name is Pascal Robinson-Foster, making a speech at the demonstration before chanting "death, death to the IDF" as the crowd joined in.

Last year, police decided not to bring criminal charges after the group's Glastonbury 2025 performance when Vylan led crowds in chants of "death, death to the IDF".

In a post on X, the Met said: "We are aware of chanting made by a speaker at the Al Quds protest and will be investigating. "We recognise the concern footage and chanting like this causes, particularly with London's Jewish communities.

Quds Day = Iran Day

For centuries, the Iranian elites have been very self-conscious about the fact they are only shia country. Most muslim countries are sunni. Shias are the black sheep of the muslim world. The genius of the Ayatollah regime was to invent Quds Day (Jerusalem Day).

Here is how that works.

On Quds Day, in every city in Iran, government officials organize street protests. They ask military families and civil servants to protest in the streets. Everyone is to wave Iranian flags and scream “Death to Israel”. They also burn Israeli flags and say stuff like “Soon, Jerusalem will be back in muslim hands thanks to Iran”. Most Iranians don’t speak arabic, but the government prints signs in arabic.

Around the islamic world, many people love that shit. It’s basically religious porn. The Pakistani taxi driver or your factory worker in Egypt sees these Quds day vids on facebook. His immediate reaction? "Wow…Iran is so wonderful :3" or "Mashallah, I fucking love Iran"

It’s the one political trick that Iranian elites found to become popular in the sunni world. They desperately want to be admired/respected by sunnis. If Israel didn’t exist, these people would want to invent it.

If they were really honest, they would not call it Quds Day. They would call it Iranian soft-power day.

Quds means Jerusalem. Iran got popular around the world by helping Palestinians resist genocide.

I want free elections so the Palestinian people can democratically decide their leadership.

You want to impose leadership on them. That's the difference between us.

Hamas was elected in 2005. Then they banned all elections.

From 2005 to 2024, Gaza was devastated by 4 bloody wars.

Did you experience those wars? Or are you sitting on your ass praising palestinians getting bombed because of an organization that denies them the right to free elections?

I want free elections for Palestinians. You only want free elections for Brits.

Both Hamas and Mahmoud Abbas are not legitimate anymore. They both banned elections. They both use thugs to beat up critics. How is that different than Israeli settlers? There needs to be new elections. Until then, as long as they use violence to repress critics, they are not legitimate.

First Israel is not a country, but an occupation on Palestine.

Secondly Israel is not just "run" by a total murderous piece of shit, its entire existence is that. If Nentanyahu disappears then every person who replaces him will be the same. The "opposition" to Nentanyahu opposes him because he isn't committing ethnic cleansing fast enough.

I agree that Iran is a murderous regime who oppress it's people if they don't follow their strict religion view. It has nothing to do with Palestine thought. Europe care about their people and Ukraine yet supporting the settler colonialism in Palestine . Both things can be true at the same time

Israel is a terrorist state with a supremacist ideology that make them genocide Palestinians and thriving thanks to over 7 decades of western backing . There is not a single excuse to genocide and settler colonialism yet you keep rejecting Palestinians rights to resist and both siding the conflict

Did you confuse some names? Iran and Hamas aren't allies. Iran supports Palestine and Palestinian resistance, but they've always been hostile with Hamas and were on opposite sides in Syria last year. A common criticism of Iran is that their support for Palestine is ineffective or a farse precisely because they try to give it to everyone else before Hamas.

The vast majority of London's Jewish Community doesn't support Quds Day. It's like saying "Hey, some black people attended this Trump rally. How dare you say Trump is bad".

Quds Day is a day that was created by the Iranian Ayatollahs to basically claim that Iran will destroy Israel.

This is a day where people wave pictures of Ayatollah Khomenei, Ayatollah Khamenei and scream "death to Israel". That's the entire original point of this day. Claiming Iran and its militias will turn the land muslim.

I'm sympathetic to Palestinians, but this day was created by the Iranian dictatorship to claim that Iranian militias will destroy Israel and take over the entire country. The point of this day isn't to ask for justice for Palestinians. It's to celebrate the Iranian regime and call for the destruction of Israel

I grew up outside Britain. The UK left needs to understand who they associate with.

The Pro-Iranian regime crowd is as bad as the pro-Netanyahu folks. Both are pieces of shit.

Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005. Hamas was democratically elected. Their first decision was to ban elections. Then they started throwing rockets. The result was 4 devastating wars with tremendous civilian casualties. This fifth war turned into a mass blood bath. The definition of stupidity is doing the same thing again, and again and again.

Israel did not withdraw from Gaza, surrounding the territory is still considered occupation . The Un still refer to both Gaza and the west bank as occupied Palestinians land. Sanctions started before Hamas was even was elected , Israel never stopped killing and stealing Palestinians lands. Hamas rockets are thrown in response to the continuation of occupation . Israel and it's backers are the only countries responsible for all those wars. Stop both siding the conflict

Hamas is an autocratic regime that killed innocent civilians and did some war crimes and terrorism but it is also a resistance group that has the right to attack the genocide idf . Both things can be true at the same time.
