The problem with the American military doctrine, is that they don't have one; everytime they need to fight a war, they find somebody else to be the troops while they stick to a "support" role.

Why? Because the U.S. decommissioned most of its purpose-built minesweepers?

Alternatively, the UK can kick out the US and Israeli ambassadors and its oil will be allowed to pass the Strait.

Ooooh... If Iran made that counteroffer, things would get spicy!

America First. Remember?
So maybe all those allies weren't so bad to have anyway?
But I sincerely hope nobody will come to the aid of USA in this. They made the mess together with Israel without consulting allies, and they need to clean it up themselves.

If they had consulted allies, I am pretty sure they would have been told unanimously to NOT attack Iran. They even had a clear deal on the nuclear thing, that Iran would stop completely to produce enriched uranium, not just for nuclear bombs, but stop COMPLETELY! Then Israel and USA attacked!!

Well yeah; if that agreement had gone through, Israel and the US would have lost all leverage over Iran. They had to stop it at any cost.

Plus, it distracts from Epstein and Netanyahu’s current troubles.

The sad thing is that they just might. The Brits (and the rest of Europe) need lower energy prices

[–] locahosr443@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I find it amusing anyone thinks the UK could still project any sea power.

We might be able to deploy one destroyer loaded with 4 missiles and 100 rubber chickens

[–] ChristerMLB@piefed.social 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

the British navy is in that bad a state?

[–] locahosr443@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Yeah I'm barely exaggerating.

We have 6 modern destroyers, 4-5 of which are pretty much permanently in docks awaiting overdue parts maintenance. Scuttlebutt is that we have ammo to roughly half load one... Though that could be a bit out of date now but still, it's shocking

USA started it, USA should finish it! We don't give a fuck about USA starting a war and then beg the rest of the world to do something! Maybe you should send your citizens!

They didn't when Reagan asked. And Reagan didn't even start that war.

US is out of warships? Didn't see this comming.

[–] bearboiblake@pawb.social 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Any US-aligned ships which go into the strait of Hormuz without Iran's blessing will probably be hit by a bunch of drones and sunk. The US wants their puppet states to act as bullet sponges so that fewer Americans die.

Doubtful. But they probably can't send more without officially having to declared a war. Which Trump alone can't do. So they are asking other nations to come save him from his own domestic misconduct.
